We build Diddley Bows, Cigar Box Guitar, and Licenses Plate resonator Guitars. Cigar Box Guitar have been around since the 1870's and there is some trace of cigar box instruments as far back as 1840's. Building these type of instruments something we have become passionate about. Some have modern type pickups like electric and acoustic guitars have today. All the guitars we build have some type pic

kup so you can connect to an amp, but can be played without an amp. However because of the low amount of air to move in the cigar boxes the volume is not as loud as a standard guitar. All our instruments are hand build to your order, one string Diddley Bows, two, three and four string License Plate resonators, and Cigar Box Guitars. Each one has its on voice and personality. Some famous people that played cigar box guitars are Blind Wille Johnson, Carl Perkins, Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, and many more. Paul McCartney still plays one on stage, as does Seasick Steve, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Justin Johnson tours the world playing home strung instruments. Check him out at justinjohnsonlive.com.

ONYX #852 Cigar Box Guitar, 3 string. Volume and tone, with a treble bleed circuit. Pickup by 12 Bar Blues LLC. Neck is made of mahogany, and maple. Head stock is mahogany, maple, and oak. Fret board is Rosewood with my maple fret markers. Side markers are white plastic. Has bone nut and adjustable hard tail bridge.

Odd shape resonator. A 3 string dog dish reso with MGB Box Bucker pickup that I coil tap with the volume push pull. Has tone pot, a treble bleed circuit I made (no loss in tone when turing down volume) and switchcraft jack. Tail piece is hand shaped from a piece of aluminum angle. Bridge is made of walnut and oak with bone. The neck is made of nice maple, oak and walnut. Fret markers are walnut, and side markers are black plastic. Sealed tuners. Bone Nut. Body is pine center with mahogany, oak, and walnut for back and top. Nice sound in humbucker and when split to single coil. Is a loud one.

A new 4 string Dog Dish resonator, Mahogany and rosewood body. Mahogany neck with rosewood fret board and maple fret marker. Plastic white side markers. Head stock has rosewood cap. Bone nut, and the bridge is made of rosewood with maple and bone. Mini humbucker pickup, with volume and tone. Sealed tuners. Antique like corner pieces. Sounds good and has good volume acoustically, but really comes to life when plugged into a tube amp. Crank it up!

New 4 string resonator, body made of Walnut, Maple and African cherry. Neck and fret board are maple with African cherry fret markers and headstock inlay. Has mandolin tail piece and cherry bridge. Has humbucker pickup with volume and tone, and tuners from Michael Breedlove at MGB Parts. Also installed is my treble bleed circuit. Sounds awesome. Have one more trim piece to do and then it is off to California. Might try to get a sound clip.

Just got through stringing this Guitar. The pics do not do it justice at all.
Four string CBG with tele style pickup, volume and tone, hardtail bridge. Control cover and pickup cover hand made from walnut. Neck is walnut with a flame maple fret board that the pics don't show. The fret markers are hand cut from Padauk wood. Great intonation, set up nice. Killer sound whether playing slide or picking.

Finished these two this week just in time for the Roy' Folks Crafts Fair. Come out to the Oak Hollow Mall in High Point, and join Bob, Bill, and me. Check out all the hand made crafts. Fri. 7am to 6pm and Sat 10am to 6pm.
The Harley Davidson license plate guitar is a four string, with maple neck and fret board. The cigar box guitar is a nice 3 string with a mahogany neck and rosewood fret board. Both single coils with volume and tone.

1958 North Carolina License Plate 3 string guitar fixing to head to Louisiana! Walnut neck and head stock with nice maple fret board, with walnut fret markers. Bone nut and walnut bridge. Body is walnut also. Has fat mini humbucker pickup with volume, and tone. String height is set for slide and playing finger style. Plays real good. Pics are a little blurry.

Partagas Black Label 3 string. Firebird mini humbucker pickup. Solid wood filled, with hard tail bridge, hickory neck, and rosewood fret board, with pearl fret dots and plastic side maker dots. Rosewood covered headstock and bone nut. This is for a local customer.
