We are excited about our new Anchor Family Program which wraps around young adults between the age group of 16-23 aging out of the foster care system. This month we want to feature Niel and Amy Smith who are a part of this new program in 2025. Niel is retired from the Army and owns his own home inspection business. Amy is an elementary school teacher at Meadowlark Elementary.

When asked why they want to become an Anchor Family with Fostering Connections, Niel and Amy said, "Our boys are adults now. We know the struggles facing young adults. Our boys were fortunate to have a strong support system as they navigated the challenges of becoming adults. We would like to provide support and encouragement for a young adult who does not have a family and support system to help them."

They shared, "God calls us to serve others, to give to others, to use our gifts for the good of others. When I heard about this opportunity in church a few weeks ago, I immediately felt that this was a way my family could serve. I believe God places people in our lives at exactly the right time. He provides us opportunities to lead others."

Time is closing in on us for this event!!

Wreaths Across America is a beautiful non-profit to help remember, honor, and teach about our veterans who served.

Join us in honoring our veterans who have been laid to rest, by donating to the Wreaths Across America fund that has been started here in Pittsburg's Mt. Olive Cemetery. The Wreaths Across America organization provides live balsam wreaths that will be placed on the veteran's headstone in honor of their sacrifice. A chance to remember those who served and a chance to carry on the memory of those men and women. If you visit this website,https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/.../179457/Overview/... , you will be visiting the Wreaths Across America page that is dedicated to Mt. Olive Cemetery. The wreaths organization is set up to accept donations by clicking the sponsor button and selecting a donation. We have over 600 veterans at Mt. Olive, our goal is 260 wreaths. Any donations received after that cutoff date will go towards the campaign for next year. Even if you cannot donate, we would still appreciate the support if you could come out and join us on December 14 at 11 A.M. for a short wreath dedication ceremony. We have partnered with VetLinks.org on this event, who will be working with a veteran to do the open comments and wreath placing for the ceremony. Thank you VetLinks.org for your support and many others who have contributed to this cause.

We look forward to a great ceremony! And having the community there to support.
