Along Forbes Avenue, Carnegie Mellon University’s Richard King Mellon Hall of Sciences continues to take shape.

The building's unitized curtain wall system and TAKTL panels are visible at Level 2 of the Loop, showcasing the building’s distinctive architectural character. Across the site, structural work is now complete, and enclosure activities are progressing steadily with glass and brick installation underway on multiple elevations. Roof installations are also in progress, helping to bring the building fully under cover.

Inside, teams are advancing MEP/FP rough-ins and interior wall construction throughout the building, while finishes have begun on the lower levels. With momentum continuing across all areas of the project, the RKM Hall of Sciences remains on schedule for completion in Fall 2027.

Exciting progress is underway on the third and final section of the Mon Fayette Expressway project! This phase follows Sections 53A1 and 53A2, which are set to open this fall, while Section 53B1A is scheduled for completion in fall 2029.

Captured here, a scraper spread is excavating fill benches along a massive fill slope, while an articulated dump truck hauls material from a bridge pier foundation. This expansive work area will soon become the site of the MF-411 twin bridges, spanning nearly 1,500 feet in length and standing more than 190 feet tall when complete. Every load moved today is helping shape one of the project’s most significant structures!
