These pictures show the process of our crew waterproofing a very large foundation.
This foundation consisted of primarily dry stacked sandstone in effort to form a wall. This foundation was in desperate need of immediate repairs. Some major issues at hand where the softball size holes causing our customer to have reoccurring water in their basement.
Course of Action:
1.) In order to expose the foundation, our team excavated all the way down to the footer.
2.) It is critical to have a clear and clean foundation, therefore, our team utilized a power washer to achieve this by washing away all dirt and debris.
3.) Once our team achieved the proper level of cleanliness and clarity, a thick coat of mortar was applied on the entire foundation.
4.) Upon ensuring the mortar had ample time to thoroughly dry, our team proceeded to apply a thick layer of rubber foundation sealant.
5.) Subsequently following the fully dry rubber foundation sealant, our expert team is now able to install a footer drain along the footer of the house. We use a SDR schedule 35 perforated pipe backfilled with 2B river stone to the top of the footer ledge. We then lay a layer of permeable fabric that allows water to flow to the drain. The fabric also doesn’t allow dirt and debris to pe*****te the drain system.
FUN FACT: Footer drains are imperative for your home. They play a critical role in the collection of water. Furthermore, the footer drain is significant because it provides an exit for that collected excess water ensuring your foundation stays strong and isn’t weakened by water.
6.) To protect the foundation from energy loss and uncontrolled moisture, our Pros proceed to accurately apply insulation boards along the foundation which are crucial in preventing these possible issues.
7.) Now that the foundation is completely prepped, our Pros are now ready to install the new downspouts. We provide only the best material for our customers, with that being said, all of our downspouts are equipped with a clean out and site tee to provide the easiest access for cleaning.
*(Our Team Uses schedule 35 4 inch. SDR solid sewer pipe)
8.) Successful connection of the footer drain and downspouts allow our Pros to move on to backfilling. Our team backfills the trench to the top of the desired grade (that was previously discussed with the customer) while also simultaneously tamping. It is ideal to tamp as your backfilling because this method eliminates the risk of settling.
9.) Now that we are almost finished, our team excavates a slight grade away from the house.
10.) Our pros finish the completed job with placing grass seed along with a erosion blanket on top. This is the last step in our course of action and now the customer will no longer have to worry about their wet basement ever again.
