Our next brotherhood spotlight is Ethan Li !! Ethan is a sophomore majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering pursuing a career in chip design. He joined AKPsi in Spring 2026 during his freshman year.
“After my freshman fall, I admittedly wasn’t fully happy with where I was both professionally and socially. I initially joined AKPsi to branch out and meet new people, to build and practice my professional skills, and as cliche as it sounds, also to build my network. But after attending recruitment events and meeting several brothers, it was clear to me that AKPsi was also an amazing community composed of some of the most supportive and inspiring people you can meet at CMU. I found AKPsi to be a place where I could grow both as an individual and as a professional, and also a place to meet some great friends. Also, it’s truly surprising how useful hearing from diverse perspectives and building soft skills is even to non-business majors.”
Thinking about joining? Here’s Ethan’s advice to you:
“Really make the effort to talk to as many brothers as you can! I actually found out about AKPsi fairly late into the recruitment process, but I tried my best to make a lasting impression by always staying late after events to meet more brothers and by making sure I put my best self forward during events. Also, any interaction can turn out to be your best and most meaningful one, so make sure to talk to everyone you can! This does also include your fellow potential new members, as they may become your brothers in the future. And of course, be yourself! AKPsi is a very welcoming community, don’t feel the need to act like someone you are not.”
