Before, After and a mess in between!
What started off as a simple tile job turned into a can of worms!
While starting demo of the flooring, we discovered mold.. a LOT of mold!. (check out video in comments).
After having MassMold come in and clear it all out, we then discovered that the entire sill on this 4 year old bump out was completely rotted away. We also discovered that the door was installed 1 inch lower than it should be.. so we got to work.!
After reframing the door opening, filling the cavity with crushed stone and concrete, reinstalling the door and siding, some sheetrock work and finally tiling, I’d say we had our work cut out for us here!.
Reason for the mold:
The previous contractor that built this bump out never considered adding ventilation to the cavity (one of MANY things they did incorrectly). By filling the cavity with crushed stone and concrete, this homeowner doesn’t have to worry about that issue again!
