Do you have a leak.
Have you noticed that your water bill is high? Check the water meter. If the flow indicator is spinning while nothing in the house is running then you have a leak. To determine if the leak is from the plumbing or the sprinkler system turn the Backflow device you have. The DCV is the most common Backflow device in our area. It is in a rectangular green box usually near the water meter. Turn either of the handles off and see if the flow indicator is still spinning. If the flow indicator is stll spinning it is your plumbing. If it is not it is your sprinkler system.

It’s getting cold don’t forget to cover your plants that require covering. Most people don’t need to worry about winterizing their systems here in North Texas. If your sprinkler systems were installed properly your pipe should be between six and 8 inches down and require no winterization. However, if they were installed improperly and are less than 6 inches deep you might want to blow the system out with compressed air and turn the system off until spring.
