Leaving home during freezing weather?

An empty house still needs a winter plan. Decide who can check it, how heating problems will be noticed, and what happens if a leak is discovered. Locate the main water shutoff and discuss any extended-absence plumbing plan with a qualified professional. Turning the thermostat down is not the same as protecting every vulnerable pipe. The right approach depends on your house, its systems, and the length of the trip.

When I was a kid, Thanksgiving wasn't so much about the stuffing for me. It was my mom's green bean casserole.

French-cut green beans. Cream of mushroom soup. A big block of Velveeta. And NO French-fried onions.

I know some of you are already disagreeing with that last part. That's the conversation I want to have.

Remodel, sell, or stay? Start with the reason.

A kitchen can be changed. A commute, lot, or location usually cannot. Before choosing finishes or calling a moving truck, write down what is making the house difficult to live in. Separate repair needs, daily frustrations, and life changes. Then compare three real options: maintain the home, remodel a defined scope, or move to a replacement home that meets the same requirements. A dated room alone does not answer the whole question.
