The first of the zinnias are coming in. 😍

Thankful to my husband and friends for helping clear most of the tree off the fence this morning. 💚

There’s still some big pieces that are wedged in the fence poles but that tree work will need to be done by professionals. For now I have temporary fix for the fence that should keep the critters out. 🐾🤞🏼

And, the flowers in the bed that the tree was laying on look ok

Flower farming is hard, and some years (this one!) are harder than others.

This season has been a reminder that farming, even on my little micro-farm, is full of the unexpected. First the groundhog, and now coming home from vacation to find a tree has taken out part of the fence! Neither was an expense we planned for, but that’s the reality of running a small business.

Running a small flower farm means every bouquet reflects so much more than the flowers themselves. It’s the seed starting, the planting, the soil, the watering, the weeding, the early mornings and late nights, the surprises, the setbacks, and the determination to keep growing through all of it.

We know our bouquets aren’t the cheapest option, and they aren’t meant to be. They’re a reflection of the care, time, and resources that go into every stem. When you buy our flowers, you’re not just buying a bouquet, you’re investing in our little farm, and that support means more than you know.

Thank you for choosing local. 💚

(I’m a bit nervous the groundhog will return while the fence is down... especially now that the marigolds have finally started growing back!)

My camera finally caught the groundhog. Not sure how it missed that massive thing!! It lives in the hollow under the tree so at least I know it’s not living inside. I haven’t finished planting out all my flowers because I wanted to know what I was dealing with. Now I just need to finish securing the perimeter and I can plant!!!

The groundhog/critter saga continues…

Groundhog update. Hope it works!

05/20/2026

Today’s farm update: the marigolds have been planted.
And the groundhog noticed and breached the fence because it thought they needed to be pinched back. 🙄

Flower farming is both beautiful and incredibly unpredictable. From crazy weather to curious critters to plant drama - when you buy our flowers you’re supporting all of the unseen work that it takes to bring you beautiful bouquets. Thank you for your support!!

p.s. the marigolds should be fine and I added another layer of fencing plus some smelly deterrents to keep the groundhog away. I’m afraid this is going to be a constant battle this summer. Wish me luck and if you have any tips to deter them let me know in the comments!

Spring can come and stay NOW!

05/06/2026

While our weather in Michigan hasn’t been staying warm consistently (freeze warning last Saturday!) - these seedling babies are getting big and need to be planted soon! So, today I started the process of hardening them off to acclimate them to being outside. Over the next few days I’ll be hauling trays outside from my basement studio in the morning and then back inside to the studio at night. After a few days they’ll be ready to spend nights outside and be in the sun during the day and then they’ll be ready to plant. Excited for the season to come! 🌻
