Traditionally, flag poles had the same amount of symbolism as the flag itself. The finial ball at the top of flag pole contained three items inside of the golden sphere. A razor, match, and bullet were all contained within the top of the flag pole to assist anyone tending to the flag. The razor would be used to cut down the flag and cut it into strips. Next, the match is used to burn the flag, the only respectful way to retire Old Glory. Lastly, the bullet is to be used to either defend the flag as a last stand, or for the soldier to take their own life as a last resort. Throughout our history, millions of soldiers have lost their lives by defending the flag, and everything it represents.
We are honored to celebrate not just the flag, but everything else it stands for. The flag means something different to every individual. From pride to bravery, sacrifice to freedom, our flag stands for everyone. For us at Flag Team, we are thankful for unity. No matter what we believe, think, or do, we are all Americans. Through thick and thin, we are all united under our flag. Try to find appreciation today for the opportunities provided by our amazing country. We are never perfect, and nobody ever could be, but we have so many accomplishments to be proud of. Have a peaceful Flag Day!🇺🇸🇺🇸
