Point Reyes Open Studios Come visit West Marin. More than 20 local artists open their studios to the public every Memorial Day weekend and Thanksgiving weekend.

Art lovers from around the Bay Area are invited to tour artists' studios in the Point Reyes area during the annual Point Reyes Open Studios (PROS) event Thanksgiving and Memorial Day weekends. PROS artists will display and demonstrate their work in their studios and homes 11-5pm each day. The Point Reyes Open Studios tour leads visitors along the back roads of this scenic rural area known for hiki

ng trails, beaches, restaurants and inns less than an hour drive from San Francisco. Visitors will be able to meet the artists, see new original work and explore the studios and workshops where the art is created. Several artists plan demonstrations of their complex craft techniques, and at least one studio will allow visitors to pull their own keepsake prints. The free, self-guided tour of Point Reyes Open Studios enables visitors the opportunity to explore the many charming neighborhoods of this sparsely settled region, from the forested lanes of Inverness Ridge to the grassy hills around Tomales Bay. Hand-built studios, gardens and sweeping views grace many of the venues. Visitors can pick up a free brochure/map at Toby's Feed Barn, The Station House Café and many other local shops and inns. Maps can also be found online at www.PointReyesArt.com, while the tour's street signs make artists' studios easy to find.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out for Point Reyes Open Studios this Memorial Day weekend.

We loved seeing so many people wandering through Point Reyes and Inverness, visiting studios, meeting artists, asking questions, looking closely, and supporting the creative work happening here in West Marin.

Open Studios is such a special tradition, now in our 28th year!

Here’s a little sneak peek of the open studio of . She has busy with a lot of new oil paintings, watercolors, small works, landscapes, experiments, finished pieces, almost-finished pieces, and all the evidence of a spring spent looking closely at this place.

Cole is #8 on the Point Reyes Open Studios map, and like all 19 artists in our group, is opening her studio this Saturday through Monday from 11am-5pm.

Kathleen Goodwin says painting helped her find her way back into the world.

After a malignant tumor in one eye caused her to lose sight in that eye, everything changed. Her world became two-dimensional.

Painting became a way to bring depth back.

In this reel, Kathleen talks about how making art helped the world feel three-dimensional again, and how, when she was deep inside a painting, she could forget about all of it for a while.

It’s a beautiful reminder that art is not just about making something to look at. Sometimes it’s how we return to the world.

Joyce Laws is one of those artists.
