Dark pool finishes are one of the most requested looks right now, and for good reason. 🖤🌊

Charcoal, midnight and near-black interiors turn the water into a mirror. They read like a natural lagoon and look incredible under night lighting.

But the pros who do dark pools best set expectations before the first sample:

1️⃣ Depth reads differently. Plan step and bench tile lines and lighting into the design.
2️⃣ Water balance shows more. Deep colors stay even when chemistry stays balanced, especially through start-up.
3️⃣ Show the real thing. Finished dark pools in daylight and at night beat a sample chip every time.

Go dark, but go deliberate. That's what makes a dark pool look as good in year five as it did on day one.

💾 Save this for your next client consult.
👇 Pros: are more of your clients asking for dark this year?

SGM Swatch Spotlight: Diamond Brite® Marlin Blue 🎨

Turquoise and dark aggregate on a light base give Marlin Blue a bright aqua look in the shallows and a deep tropical teal in the deep end. The water reads clear by day and like a lagoon once the lights come on.

It's one finish with a whole range of looks, which is why it's worth showing your clients the water, not just the chip.

Featured installs by National Pools of Roanoke, Blue Haven Pools and Nikiforakis Pools.

Ask for it by name. Find a factory-trained SGM applicator through the link in bio.

Would you add a fire bowl and in-pool loungers to your backyard? 🔥

This modern lap pool is finished in River Rok Blue Opal. The natural pebble finish brings out deep blue tones in the water, and it has a textured, natural feel underfoot. Add a glass tile spillway wall, a sun shelf and plenty of shade, and you’ve got a backyard built for slow afternoons.

Beautiful work by Little Bird Pool Services 👏

Save this for your pool inspo board and share it with someone planning a backyard refresh.

If you spent this summer looking at a pool you weren't proud of - fall is your move. 🍂🌊

Most homeowners think spring is when you renovate. But the professionals know: fall is the sweet spot. Contractors are less booked, scheduling is faster, and you're first in line when summer hits.

Resurfacing takes 1-2 weeks to cure before your pool can be refilled. Do it now and you're swimming in June while your neighbors are still on the waitlist.

Ask your pool contractor about SGM's Diamond Brite, River Rok, and Durazzo finishes - and make sure next summer looks completely different.

💾 Save this if a pool renovation has been on your list all year.

Tucked into the palms, a small pool finished in Diamond Brite Midnight Blue 🌴

Midnight Blue gives the water that deep, rich ocean color, and in the shade it gets even darker and moodier. The exposed aggregate finish adds a soft sparkle every time the waterfall hits the surface.

Would you go deep blue like this, or lighter and more tropical? Let us know in the comments 👇

Every pool contractor reading this has had the call.

The homeowner. The finish issue. The sinking feeling that your margin - and maybe your reputation - just walked out the door. 📞

Here's what that call actually costs you:

💸 30–50% of your original job margin - gone before you even load the truck

🤝 The referral pipeline you spent years building - one bad experience can cost you 3-5 future jobs in that neighborhood alone

⭐ Your online reputation - reviews, posts, tags. In 2026 unhappy homeowners have an audience. And it follows you in search results for years

And here's the part most contractors already know but rarely say out loud: almost every callback traces back to the same root cause. Wrong product for the application.
The contractors with the cleanest callback records aren't necessarily the most skilled. They're the most deliberate about what goes in the pool - using manufacturer-backed, application-specific products from suppliers who have been engineering for this environment for decades.

SGM has been that supplier since 1978. Diamond Brite®, River Rok®, and Durazzo™ are built specifically for pool environments - consistent, tested, and backed by a manufacturer that stands behind every bag.

Because the best job you ever do is the one that never calls you back.

💾 Save this and share it with your crew.
👇 Drop a comment - what's the lesson a callback taught you that you'll never forget?
