Florida Condo Safety Is More Important Than Ever!
A recent report from the Florida Legislature’s Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA) highlights the continued need to address structural conditions in aging condominium and cooperative buildings across Florida.
Between 2024 and 2025, 2,500 buildings were flagged for Phase Two milestone inspections—a more detailed evaluation generally required when substantial structural deterioration is identified during an initial inspection. The report had found in addition that, 54 buildings were deemed unsafe or uninhabitable, 5 of them were evacuated.
For condominium associations, property managers, and building owners, these findings are an important reminder: proactive inspections, timely repairs, and proper permitting matter.
