As Florida begins to warm back up after our winter storm, be on the look out for this common turf disease, Large Patch.
Large Patch, caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia solani, loves cooler, damp weather. Check out your customer's lawn to see if you can observe yellow/orange discoloration around the edges of circular dead patches.
The best way to prevent this disease from developing is to avoid over watering, properly fertilize during active plant growth, and make sure lawns are mowed regularly at the correct height. Early detection and proper management are key to keeping lawns healthy.
