Matt and his once-a-year teaching gig at Gainesville High School. 🙂 Every spring Matt coordinates with the trigonometry teacher to bring the Trig Star program to GHS over the course of two class periods. First class he spends teaching and demonstrating to students how trig is used out in the real world (a.k.a. as a surveyor), and the second class he administers a test. The winner of the local test receives a $250 scholarship from Ozark Country Land Surveying. The state winner receives an additional $750. At this time, Matt is the only surveyor in the state of Missouri who participates in the Trig Star program; therefore, the local winner is also the state winner! Congratulations to Kyden on earning a $1000 scholarship! 👏🏻

Each year, Matt Wade, PLS, partners with the Gainesville R-V trigonometry teacher to give students the opportunity to take the Trig-Star exam.

Sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Trig-Star is a competition that recognizes and rewards high school students who excel in mathematics, particularly trigonometry, and their teachers. The goal of the program is to demonstrate practical uses for mathematics and bring greater awareness of the surveying profession.

The winner of the local contest receives a scholarship sponsored by Ozark Country Land Surveying. He or she also receives additional money as the state winner.

This year’s local winner is Tate Uchtman, who received a perfect score on the exam. Congratulations to Tate!

Tate Uchtman won 1st place in the Trig Star competition with a PERFECT score. He will represent Missouri in the national competition this summer. As the Missouri winner, he earned $1000 scholarship.

Matt conducted the annual Trig Star contest at Gainesville High School recently. Each year he awards the local winner a $250 scholarship, and the state adds $750 for a total $1,000 scholarship. Congratulations to this year’s winner, McKoy Dobbs!
