Steel Erectors Inc. has been a family-owned business since the 1940s. Started by our beloved grandparents, Pete and Ruby Clifton, it continued under the direction of our parents, Philip and Josette Clifton. In 2007, we decided to buy the business when our father retired. Since then, the owners, Peter Clifton, Leslie & Jim Shinn, David & Shelly Clifton, have continued to operate the steel fabrication and steel er****on business in the Savannah area. During this time, we have helped in the restoration of many buildings downtown, by adding a secure foundation and framing to our historic buildings. We are also responsible for many Gulfstream buildings, such as the Hangars, various support facilities, and the maintenance building. Local kids spend each day in several schools that we were proud to build. Our work spans from Florida to Tennessee and all areas in between. We are very proud of the work we have accomplished and the quality of work we have completed.
Recently, the owners decided to close the fabrication shop and steel er****on business and pursue other opportunities.
Leslie decided, after the death of her husband, to change careers and work as a Realtor® in the Savannah area, building upon their time in the Real Estate industry. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Sales Society Award and the ERA Circle of Honor Award.

David and Shelly Clifton have started a ministry in Metter, Ga to help men to regain their footing in life. JC's Ranch is a one-year program that provides a place for second chances. Please see their page for more information and details on an upcoming fundraiser/fishing tournament.

Alongside JC's Ranch, they have started a business to build container homes (and are living in one now!). Clifton Custom Containers, LLC (CCC) plans to partner with JC's Ranch to teach men to learn a trade and help support the ministry. Look for an announcement here soon with more information.
Peter Clifton continues to work for CMC as the Plant Superintendent. He has worked in this position since 2007 after leading the Rebar Department at Savannah Steel Company.

Philip and Josette Clifton continue to live their best life in retirement. We all want to grow up to be them! They also continue to be one of our biggest fans and supporters throughout our lives.
