How We Started

The story starts in 2014 when I, Kadin Broadhurst, began pushing and hauling my little mower and weed-whacker around my neighborhood. I had lived in Poolesville for 6 years and was only 14 at the time but I prepared for work by printing out fliers at the beginning of spring and going door to door with them (if you live in Seneca Chase you may even remember me). Within a few weeks I was lucky enough to have acquired nine lawns that I mowed every week. At this time my brother was working with me which made the work a lot easier and faster.

Within the next four years we lost customers and gained customers as expected, but with hard work we brought that nine up to 21. We also expanded in other areas too. Originally we walked our equipment to our clients homes but now we have a 60 inch zero-turn, a 36 inch walk-behind, two push mowers, three weed-whackers, a blower, and various other technical pieces of equipment like an edger, hedge-trimmer, and chainsaws, that we drive around with our trailer.

While this doesn’t seem like much compared to the other big companies in Poolesville, we were operating as two high-schoolers, organizing calendars, talking with clients, fixing machinery, sharpening blades, making and delivering invoices, and doing our taxes. Now as I head to college I am taking this business into new depths as I expand out of my neighborhood, into all of Poolesville and the surrounding areas.
