Last week our team took some time to have fun and relax after a long hot summer working thru the heat, difficult project sites and complex project needs. Bowling, laser tag, arcade, good food, laughs and even a few prizes - Surge Entertainment provided a lot of fun for all of us and the reprieve from the daily grind was well deserved. Thank you to all for all that you do everyday!

Recently, Civil Design & Construction posted about a small part of their work helping restore New Orleans after hurricane Katrina at the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway West Closure Complex in New Orleans, LA. This was just part of the 350 miles of levees, 73 pump stations, three canal closure structures with pumps, and four gated outlets that had to be constructed after hurricane Katrina to control the risks of another one in 100-year storm. Civil Design & Construction also worked on the Seabrook Sector Gate Complex. This project was federally funded and fulfilled by the Army Corp of Engineers. CD&C provided cost estimates using MCASES version Mii and construction schedule in Primavera P6.

The Seabrook Sector Gate Complex was completed in spring of 2012. The Seabrook Sector Gate Complex is 600 ft. long and 16ft. above sea level, made from concrete and steel. It has one 95 ft. wide sector gate, and two 50 ft. wide vertical lift gates that can block storm surge from Lake Pontchartrain. The construction cost was estimated at $165 million. The Seabrook Sector Gate Complex protects New Orleans East, metro New Orleans, Gentilly, the Ninth Ward, and St. Benard Parish.
