Sedums are a beautiful, multifunctional plant to include in a water-conscious landscape. With both low-growing ground cover and upright varieties, they are a drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, pest-resistant, low-maintenance plant that tolerates a wide range of soils.

Grass lawns, along with all the chores, water, fertilizers, and w**d killers that go along with their upkeep, have become a normal expected feature of most home landscapes. However, you can reduce your yard maintenance chores and budget while at the same time giving back to the planet by turning some of your land into a native prairie meadowscape.

Got raspberries? Now’s the time to prune them if you want good fruit production (and avoid a tangled mess!) in the upcoming season. This is also the time to prune most trees and bushes but especially edibles like fruit trees, kiwis (fuzzy and hardy), grapes, currants, gooseberries, jostaberries, blueberries, etc that rely on effective pruning to get maximum tasty fruit.

If you could use some consultation or support in dormant pruning, yard /garden cleanups, or mulching before those w**ds really get growing, just reach out to us at [email protected].

It takes less than a week for Blacklotus to take you from grass to garden so you can be all ready to plant your dream garden next Spring! Scroll to see the before and after of this new backyard garden designed and installed by one of our Blacklotus teams. Customer will complete the design by adding black metal arched trellises between the cedar raised beds to extend vertical growing space over the center walkway, growing grapes on the gate arbor and fence wires, and planting the fenceline inside and out with herbs, perennial flowers and dahlias. The design included space for a potting bench, kid mud kitchen, dining table, etc so that this garden space becomes a functional family hangout spot and integrates connection to nature into daily life. Our team set up everything with irrigation on a timer and installed a farmers water pump to create ease for a busy family. Can’t wait to come back next spring and get pictures of all the food and beauty our customer will grow here!
