Before you leave town, check more than the locks.

Turning your AC off completely can allow heat and humidity to build inside your Florida home. Use your thermostat’s away or vacation setting instead so the system can continue managing indoor conditions without following your normal cooling schedule.

If dust returns soon after you clean, your ductwork may deserve a closer look.

Old, damaged or leaking ducts can collect dust and debris. Leaks may also pull unfiltered air from attics or other unconditioned spaces and circulate it through the home. That can contribute to excess dust, musty odors and discomfort for people who are sensitive to airborne particles.

This is real ductwork removed from a home. Wiping the vent covers wouldn’t have addressed what was happening deeper inside the system.

Not every dirty duct needs to be replaced, but visible buildup shouldn’t be ignored. Mauro’s Air can inspect the ductwork and help determine what’s causing the problem.

Dark spots around an air vent should not be ignored.

They may be surface dirt, but they can also appear when moisture or condensation collects around the vent. Simply wiping the area may clean what you can see without addressing why it developed.
