A 3-year-old roof. Two different roofing contractors. And a problem that never should have been there.
Hereâs something most homeowners donât know:
The field of the roof is only part of the roofing system. The details are what protect your investment.
Wall flashing. Counter flashing. Dormer details. Transitions. These areas have to be installed correctly because they are often where water finds a way in.
On this particular home, we found an issue at the wall where the roof meets the gable. Instead of tearing everything apart and forcing the homeowner to pay for a full re-stucco after the repair, we took a different approach.
We installed traditional metal wall flashing and counter flashing over the top to properly address the transition and protect the roof system.
And hereâs the interesting part:
The home next door had the exact same issue.
Both homes had work performed by the same contractor.
Coincidence? Maybe. But itâs a good reminder that roofing isnât just about putting shingles or tile in the field of the roof.
Itâs about knowing what happens at every single detail.
Manufacturers donât provide a specific detail for every unique situation. Thatâs where experience matters.
Glen has 26 years of hands-on roofing experience, and that experience is what allows him to look at a problem, understand why itâs happening, and determine the right way to solve it.
This isnât a trade secret.
Itâs craftsmanship.
Itâs experience.
Itâs attention to detail.
And ultimately, itâs about getting the maximum value from your roofing investment by making sure the system is installed correctly and the warranty can actually stand behind the work.
Donât just ask how old your roof is. Ask how it was installed.
