One of my favorite parts of the build—watching the finish bring the walnut to life. Rubio Monocoat USA

This solid walnut hall table was designed with soft, continuous curves and built entirely in my Port Washington shop.

I’m currently taking on new custom furniture projects, including dining tables, console tables and benches. If you have a piece in mind for your home, send me a message. I’d be happy to talk through some ideas.

A new solid walnut hall table taking shape in the shop. The curved corners require a lot of careful shaping and fitting, but they’re what give this piece its character.
Still plenty of sanding and finishing ahead—more to come.

A little behind-the-scenes look at one of the custom built-ins currently coming together in my shop. These drawer and door fronts started as rough spalted maple slabs and were combined with epoxy to create a completely one-of-a-kind look. This is the final top coat before polishing and installation.

I own Heartwood Theory, a custom woodworking shop in Port Washington. I design and build custom built-ins, cabinetry, dining tables and furniture for homes throughout the area.

If you’ve been thinking about a custom piece or have a space that needs a better solution, feel free to message me. I’m always happy to talk through ideas.

This solid white oak dining table is getting close.

The oval pedestal base is fully assembled and wrapped in solid white oak, and I finally got to set the top in place and see everything together.

It still needs its final sanding, and I’m waiting for the customer to choose the stain color, but I’m really happy with how the shape and proportions came together.

I’m looking to take on more custom dining tables and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces like this. If you have been thinking about a table designed specifically for your space, send me a message. The size, shape, wood and finish can all be customized.

If you saw the build reel I posted, this is the finished walnut drum coffee table in its new home. The simple shape really lets the grain and the continuous walnut wrapping around the base stand out.

Finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus and SheenPlus. Really happy with how this one came together and how well it fits the room.

Next project taking shape in the shop.

A solid white oak oval dining table.

The top is shaped and getting close, and the oval pedestal is still in the frame stage. Next I’ll be wrapping the entire base with individual solid white oak strips to create the finished curved surface.
Still plenty of work left, but I’m really liking how the shape and proportions are coming together.
