Stepping back in time with this incredible ongoing interior log home restoration.

Sometimes the biggest part of a restoration project is uncovering what's been hidden for decades.

This 1850s log home had undergone years of cover-up projects, with original logs concealed behind layers of materials and renovations. After a complete interior gut, the home's true character began to emerge.

As each layer was removed, the original hand-crafted logs were exposed, revealing the history, craftsmanship, and beauty that had been hidden for generations. From there, our team is carefully repairing, cleaning, Re Chinking, and restoring the logs bringing new life to a structure that has stood for over 170 years.

The transformation from the original condition, through the restoration process, to the finished result is something we're proud to share. We will continue to share updated photos as we move along with this restoration.

There's nothing quite like uncovering a remarkable piece of history and giving it a second chance.

From weathered and worn to beautifully restored!
We previously shared the before photos of this log home restoration project. Now we're excited to show the transformation with our progress and finished photos.

Here's another log home project coming up, and we’re excited to get started!

This one will be getting an extensive chemical cleaning, 2 coats of Perma-Chink lifeline Ultra-7 pigmented stain followed up by 1 coat of Perma-Chink Lifeline advance Gloss to keep the wood strong and looking its best for years to come. There’s nothing better than bringing a log home back to life and seeing the transformation take shape.
We’ll be sharing progress photos along the way, so stay tuned to see how it all comes together!

This one came to us after another contractor started the job—but couldn’t see it through.

Unfortunately, the work that was done left the home exposed and needing more than just routine half log replacement. We had to step in, undo the problem areas, and rebuild the process from the ground up (Literally). Rotten logs, sheeting, studs and moldy insulation were removed. We then re-framed the wall, installed new insulation, OSB, Tyvek and re stacked new custom crafted Swedish cope half log. Lastly we caulked the seams with Sashco Log Homes Log Builder caulk and carefully color matched the stain with PPG ProLuxe Log and Siding (formally know as Sikkens)

Instead of cutting corners, we took the time to do it right.

With log homes: what you don’t see can matter the most.
In the end, this one is back to being strong, sealed, and ready to handle the elements for years to come.

Log homes don’t leave much room for shortcuts. When the job isn’t done right the first time, it takes experience and patience to correct it the right way.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted—but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.
We’ve been out in the field doing what we do best: restoring, protecting, and bringing log homes back to life. From routine maintenance to full transformations, it’s been a productive start to the season behind the scenes.

We are willing to train! Learn to media blast a log cabin, complete log replacement, and conduct washing and staining homes. Perks can include lunch breaks in the most beautiful and unique places.
