September is almost over, and we’re heading into the last stretch of the year.

Before things get busy, we just want to say this: thank you. 💛

Thirty years ago, Privett Electric started as a family business in Eastern New Mexico. The goal was simple: show up, do the work right, and treat people the way you’d want to be treated. That hasn’t changed.

We’ve grown. We’ve taken on bigger projects. We’ve added great people to the team. But at the end of the day, we’re still your neighbors. Still the same company that picks up the phone and shows up when you need us.

September is National Preparedness Month.
And while most people think about emergency kits and evacuation plans, there’s one thing homeowners often overlook: generator safety.

If the power goes out this fall or winter, a generator can be a lifesaver. But used wrong, it’s one of the most dangerous things you can bring into your home.

A few things worth knowing:
• Never run a generator indoors, in a garage, or near any window or vent. Carbon monoxide builds up fast and has no smell.
• Make sure your CO detectors are working! Test them now, before heating season starts.
• If you’re thinking about a whole-home standby generator, that’s an electrical install that needs a licensed electrician. We can help with that.

Preparedness isn’t just about having supplies. It’s about making sure your home is set up safely before you need it.

And your AC has been working overtime since May. 😅

Before you flip the switch to heating season, here are three things worth doing:
1️⃣ Schedule a fall tune-up — refrigerant levels, drain lines, filters, and worn components. Catching small issues now is almost always cheaper than fixing them in January.
2️⃣ Check your thermostat settings — switching from cooling to heating mode sounds simple, but it’s worth making sure your system transitions cleanly and your thermostat is calibrated right.
3️⃣ Don’t ignore what your system has been telling you all summer — weird noises, warm rooms, higher bills. Those don’t fix themselves over the off-season.

Fall is the right time to get ahead of it!
Before the first cold snap hits and everyone’s calling at once.

Today is Building & Code Staff Appreciation Day, and it's one we actually care about.

Building inspectors, electrical inspectors, plan reviewers, permit technicians. These are the people who make sure the work being done in our community is safe, up to code, and built to last. They don't get a lot of credit, but they should.

At Privett Electric, we've always believed that doing the job right means doing it to code. Every time, on every project. Whether it's a residential service call or a large commercial build, that standard doesn't change.
