Friends and neighbors, over a year and a half ago I set out to join the Oregon National Guard. I was attracted to the mission of a unit that serves both the local state and the nation. The date for me to depart for basic training was set many months ago, and reflects a long personal journey of mine.

How this affects the business will be small. I have a team in place who will be taking over, a trusted group of guys I have known for several years, and who have been with me to many projects and services. They will take great care of everything while I’m gone. In about 6 months, I will be back, and will mostly be resuming my normal life. All billing, scheduling, and contact info will remain the same. We have trained hard, and I feel fully confident in the team, but I ask for patience as they will be hitting the ground running, and are also affected by the events going on around us.

I am a small business, with a minuscule platform, but I will use that to say this: we are witnessing a monster strangle and murder a vibrant, beautiful people and democracy.

My Good Neighbor PDX landscaping is seeking to hire a new crewmember, accommodating a variety of backgrounds and schedules.

We are an ethical landscaping company located in North Portland. We use only eco-friendly, electric tools. No gas, no fumes, no poison, everything is much healthier and easier! We also apprentice young immigrant youth in need of job training. You can see more about us at www.mygoodneighborpdx.com

PAY: $15 - $18 - ideal for someone with a background in manual labor, possesses a clean driving record, and holds a drivers license. Wages will be set based upon experience.

We also regularly distribute tips, give performance bonuses, give profit sharing, and fast food fridays!

SCHEDULE:

Our schedule is flexible, and we are willing to accommodate your schedule. You can potentially work Monday - Friday, or as little as 2/3 days a week. We don't work weekends or holidays (unless you want to). We start typically around 9am and finish around 5pm.

WHAT WE DO:

Anything from mowing, mulching, weeding, general landscaping. Every day is something different, so you can always be learning new skills.

WHAT WE GIVE:

We hope not to have people work for us, but with us. Our leadership style is to empower and train, not to micro-manage and control. We hope to treat all of our co-workers with dignity, honor, and do our best to have fun and keep a positive atmosphere.

We are a young company in our third year. There is potential for increased pay and working together to achieve your career goals. We encourage our staff to work towards starting their own business if that's an ambition, and we make every effort to support your goals. We have previously paid for continuing education in the landscaping field, start up costs for new businesses, etc.

WHAT WE EXPECT:

Show up to work on time, carry yourself with respect and professionalism.

Be comfortable working outdoors and in potentially adverse weather (usual summer heat, spring rains, etc).

Hi neighbors! I am happy to say the business is doing really well. In fact, it’s going a little too well to handle on my own anymore. I have been going 8-8 all 7 days, and then falling asleep answering emails. So, I am looking for a reliable assistant manager. The ideal person is someone who wants a well-paying side gig, has a valid drivers license, and manual labor experience. Must be comfortable working outdoors, and with youth. Rain, snow, sleet, smoke, or shine, Arsen and I are there for you with the chainsaw, mower, and rake. If you need anything, please do reach out. We are carefully watching the air quality and can only work under certain conditions, but we will make sure all of our friends and clients will be taken care of.

And as always, if you know someone that’s been majorly effected by the storms, but can’t afford service, just let us know.

One of the perks of being a MGN client: if we notice your car has a flat tire, we will call you to confirm and fill it up for you if needed! Along with our air compressor for your tires, we carry jumper cables, so if you need basic tire or battery help while we’re at your home, just let us know.
