You don't know what's underground until it's not underground anymore. 🚜
Every excavation scope comes with a plan.
And almost every excavation scope encounters something that wasn't in the plan.
That's just what happens when you open the ground on a site that has history.
Here's a sampling of what experienced excavation crews find once the work starts:
🔸 Utility lines that don't match the as-built drawings
🔸 Old infrastructure — abandoned pipes, footings, and tanks that predate the current facility
🔸 Shifting soil conditions — unexpected fill, organic material, or saturated zones
🔸 Conduit routed in directions that don't make sense until you trace them
🔸 Rock or hardpan that changes the excavation approach entirely
🔸 Structural elements that require shoring adjustments to protect
What you find is rarely the problem.
