Great landscape design doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. ✨

Landscape Designer Pierson walks us through a recent project to show how different lighting techniques can completely transform an outdoor space.

From softly illuminating pathways to highlighting beautiful trees and architectural details, every light has a purpose.

The secret isn’t adding more lights. It’s knowing where to place them.

Thoughtful landscape lighting adds depth, creates ambiance, and allows you to enjoy your outdoor spaces long after sunset.

A whole new perspective. 🌿

Once a backyard centered around sports and activities, this property has been reimagined as a relaxing Pacific Northwest garden oasis.

What was once a sport court is now a beautiful swimming pool, while the former putting green has given way to lush garden beds and inviting pathways. A cozy fire pit creates another place to gather, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors.

Previously dominated by artificial turf and tropical-inspired plantings, the landscape now embraces a softer, more natural aesthetic. Ornamental grasses, colorful perennials, Japanese maples, and evergreens bring texture, movement, and year-round interest, while thoughtfully designed pathways connect each space.
The result? A peaceful outdoor retreat designed for relaxation, connection, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Site Evaluation with Sean 🌿
When Sean walks a property, he’s looking for the little clues that tell a bigger story.

At this site, two things immediately stood out: exposed drip irrigation lines and one struggling shrub in an otherwise healthy new planting.

The nearby mature oak is an important part of the picture. Established trees have extensive root systems, which can create extra competition for water, nutrients, and growing space. In areas like this, new plants may need a little more help to thrive — from a larger planting pocket and soil amendments to top dressing, fertilization, and more intentional irrigation.

And those exposed drip lines? They may still be functioning, but protecting and properly placing irrigation helps keep the system safer and the landscape looking more finished.

Sometimes the biggest improvements start with simply knowing what to look for.

From an underused lawn to an award-winning backyard retreat. ✨

This transformation is about so much more than adding a pool. Our clients envisioned a backyard where they could swim, entertain, garden, relax, and enjoy the outdoors year-round.

Landscape Designer Kenna Hartman brought that vision to life with a custom pool, lush layered plantings, thoughtful privacy screening, and pathways that connect each outdoor living space.

With Pacific Northwest beauty and Mediterranean influences, every detail was designed to create a landscape that feels both beautiful and functional.

The result? A backyard that truly reflects how this family wants to live.

Have a vision for your outdoor space? We’d love to help bring it to life.

If your lawn is looking thin, compacted, patchy, or tired after summer, don’t wait until spring to think about it. Once winter sets in, there’s much less we can do—so the work you put in now can make a big difference later.

Our Residential Maintenance team can evaluate your lawn, recommend the right renovation plan, and help set it up for a stronger spring.

Fall gives us a valuable window to dethatch, aerate, slice seed, fertilize, and help new grass get established so your lawn can head into winter stronger and come back thicker and greener in spring.

It all starts with an idea—and a walk-through.

Long before the first stone is placed or the first plant goes into the ground, our team is listening, asking questions, and imagining what your space could become.

From there, we bring together your vision, our designers’ expertise, and your budget to create a landscape that feels distinctly yours. And because projects can evolve along the way, our team is there to problem-solve, adapt, and guide the process from the first meeting through installation.

Seasonal Interest, Built In. 🍂
A well-designed landscape should have something to offer in every season.

Scroll through to see how our designers build year-round interest with layers of ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, perennials, evergreens, and small trees. As fall arrives, those layers begin to shift—foliage changes color, grasses take on more texture and movement, and late-season blooms and seed heads keep the garden feeling full.

We design with multiple seasons in mind, balancing color, structure, texture, and movement so the landscape continues to evolve throughout the year.

Because the best landscapes don’t peak once—they give you something new to enjoy season after season.

Why do we love ornamental grasses in landscape design??? Because they bring something few other plants can: movement, texture, softness, and structure all at once.

Our designers use grasses to soften hardscapes, create repetition, add privacy, bring movement to planting beds, and help landscapes feel more layered and natural. Depending on the variety and how they’re planted, grasses can feel loose and meadow-like or clean and architectural, making them incredibly versatile in both modern and traditional gardens.

They also carry the landscape beautifully through the seasons, with seed heads, changing color, and winter texture that keep the garden interesting long after summer blooms fade.

Some of the most memorable landscapes aren’t the ones you see all at once—they’re the ones you discover one step at a time. 🌿

A thoughtfully designed pathway slows you down, inviting you to notice the textures, changing light, seasonal blooms, and carefully framed views along the way.

On larger properties especially, paths do more than connect spaces. They create a sense of flow, turning separate outdoor rooms into one cohesive experience.

Because great landscape design isn’t just about where you’re going. It’s about how it feels to get there.
