Before & after at our !

Originally built in 1965 by John Storrs, the kitchen was tightly compartmentalized—a common signature of the era that no longer suited how our clients live today. We opened up the dining area and kitchen to improve light, flow, and function, bringing the space up to contemporary standards without losing its mid-century heritage.

We’re honored to see our recent project featured in Dwell.

This project was especially meaningful because it gave us the opportunity to thoughtfully restore and reimagine a 1965 home originally designed by John Storrs, one of the defining voices of Northwest Modern architecture. His work continues to inspire us with its deep connection to landscape, natural materials, and timeless sense of place.

Our role was never to reinvent the house. Instead, we worked to understand its original intent, preserve what made it extraordinary, and carefully adapt it for contemporary life. Every decision was guided by respect for the home’s architectural legacy.

We’re deeply grateful to our wonderful clients for trusting us with this remarkable home. Thank you Dwell and Brian libby for sharing the story.

For this month’s Women in Architecture feature, we are celebrating the Dutch architect, Francine Houben.

After graduating from Delft University of Technology, Houben co-founded the internationally acclaimed firm Mecanoo in 1984. She has since become one of Europe’s most influential architects, guided by her unique philosophy: “People, Place, Purpose, and Poetry.”

Houben’s work beautifully prioritizes the human experience. She focuses on designing warm public spaces tailored to the communities that will use and benefit from them. Her breathtaking achievements include the Library of Birmingham in the UK and the monumental National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts in Taiwan.

For the living room, we paired a vaulted white ceiling with a prominent wood beam to make the room feel spacious and defined! We also focused on bringing in plenty of natural light from the yard, and highlighting the oak floors and warm leather finishes of the furniture.
