NEWS: A new microchipping requirement is taking effect soon for USEF competitors!
The US Equestrian Board of Directors approved a new microchipping rule, and beginning December 1, 2026, ALL horses competing in USEF-licensed or endorsed competitions will be required to have a 15-digit, ISO-compliant 11784/11785 microchip under GR 1101.10.
Why is this important?
Microchipping provides a reliable way to identify horses and can play an important role in equine health, safety, and biosecurity. This is particularly helpful during disease outbreaks or other emergency situations.
If your horse competes at USEF-licensed or endorsed events, now is a great time to talk with your veterinarian about microchipping and make sure your horse’s information and microchip number is recorded with USEF.
