Spent a fun weekend down in the Crooked River Canyon with friends and decided to take advantage of the beautiful landscape to do a photo shoot for these sweet bracelets my cousin is making.

Working on a wooden play kitchen for the cutie in the second picture. She’s about to have her 2nd birthday, which is quite hard to believe. Time flies so soak it in! Do stuff with your kids 😘

Coming down the home stretch with this ukulele project, which is a present for my Mom (was supposed to be finished for Christmas…whoops)

was kind enough to take this on with me and walk me through the whole process from start to finish. We worked in his incredible shop together and he let me take a hands on approach to making this instrument. Of course he was there to guide everything along and fix my mistakes. It’s been such a great learning experience to look into the craft of instrument making, which is so different from my usual craft of building furniture. So much detail, on such a smaller and more intimate level.

Looking forward to hearing it be played soon by my Mom. She really has a passion for ukulele and I’m sure this instrument will only increase it.

The top is made from Redwood I collected on the beach in Pacific City. The sheriff was actually called on me while I was chainsawing a chunk off a drift log. He told me I needed a permit next time (which is $40) and that I can finish my cut, take my plunder and call it a day. Nice guy. I had a whole truck load at that time and was super worried he was going to make me dump it.

Another quick little table set using some quarter-sawn White Oak sourced from ‘s random piles. This time I attempted some staining like they did in the old days to really make that flecking pop out. Quite a cool look.

Tried my hand at some mission style side tables. Made three of these for a living room set. Beautiful Red Oak from on consignment from Salvaged from somewhere in the Portland area.

In total there were 28 mortises, and 28 tenons per table… so 84 of each if you count all three tables. All beautifully cut using the .usa

Really enjoying exploring the mission style these days. I’ll be pursuing many more projects like this and also experimenting with some classic finishing techniques to really make that Oak figure pop.

Chessboards are one of my favorite pieces to make. Such a fun opportunity to mix contrasting woods together. I made one as a present, so I decided to make several more just for the heck of it.

Stopped by the shop of our local ukulele maker and had the pleasure of being taught how to carve my very first ukulele neck. He is certainly a master of his craft, and it was an honor to be shown some of his techniques.

This is the largest dining table I have built to date measuring about 11 feet long x 44 inches wide. This Western Black Walnut tree was about 120 years and lived its life in Hood River, Oregon. I love knowing that many beautiful large gatherings will take place around it for the next 120 years.

Still waiting on tuning pegs and a few other parts to finish this guitar, but it’s really coming to life. can’t wait to string it up and hear what it sounds like!
