SEVEN (7) Colas Construction projects were named Top Projects by the Daily Journal of Commerce Oregon for projects completed in 2025, including the Engineering News Record Northwest Regional Best Project of the Year.

In addition, nearly 100 copies of A Kids Book About Construction by Andrew Colas were distributed at the event in support of youth, the future of our industry, and the spotlight on Child Care for Construction, a program helping local construction families access affordable child care while building careers in the trades.

It is time.

The Jefferson community showed up and showed out in blue and gold, with ear-to-ear smiles for this long-awaited groundbreaking milestone, made even more meaningful on Senior Day. We cheered in celebration of generations of Jefferson DEMOS dating back to the Class of 1967! Shoutout to Jefferson Alumni!

Colas Hoffman Construction is honored to celebrate with you and proud to serve as your GC as the next chapter takes shape for our city, and especially for the students, educators, families, and community who fondly know Jeff as the heart of Black Portland.

With deep gratitude to every team member, partner, and community voice who has helped carry progress forward. Thank you to Portland Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kimberlee Armstrong, PPS Board Vice Chair Michelle DePass, Jefferson High School Principal Drake Shelton, and the many others who have held the vision for Jefferson’s next chapter.

DEMOS I SAY! Today's modernization groundbreaking ceremony was a landmark moment in the Jefferson High School community. Students, staff, PPS Board, community members, and leaders joined in a powerful celebration of Jeff’s legacy and a deserved investment in north/northeast Portland.

A huge thank you to PPS leadership, our project, community, and government partners for an unforgettable program. This exciting next chapter is thanks to the 2025 School Improvement Bond and the voters who approved it. Students succeed when they learn in safe, comfortable, and modern spaces. We are BUILDING OUR FUTURE, RISING TOGETHER!

At last week’s Top Out for West 6th Apartments, we climbed six stories up to take in the view. It was a fitting reflection of the way you lead, patient and steadfast, with perseverance and deep family values at the foundation.

Perseverance shapes the future long before it arrives.

A Kids Book About Construction now sits inside the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, in Atlanta, where Dr. King was born and raised, a reminder that learning creates access, nurtures imagination, and opens doors that once felt out of reach.

Progress is sustained when we give, listen, and lift others as we move forward.

Honoring Dr. King means continuing the work through education, representation, and building pathways for the next generation.
