Track lights? Down lights? Ceiling fans with lights? Wall sconces? Do you run conduit or wire mold?

Our client came up with an idea to put some faux beams up with some 3” wafer lights to allow for additional dimmable light. I was on the fence at first but it looks like it will end up checking the boxes. The beams will get painted or stained.

My favorite parts about this room are the vaulted ceiling, ceiling beams, fireplace with it’s tile surround. They play off each other and really tie this room together. It certainly doesn’t hurt when the Owners have an eye for design and load the room up with some gorgeous furniture!

One thing I like about mineral wool insulation is that it retains its shape when you cut it and notch it.

Behind boxes and wires are critical areas that can end up with cold spots when there isn’t any insulation behind them. If you jam the insulation in or stuff it behind or in front of things it doesn’t turn out so well. Swipe for the previous insulation.

How awesome is this tile surround? It was a ton of work to get this pattern perfect, but well worth it in my opinion. I think the installer(Jarod) wanted to kill me when I asked him to cut a scosche from several of the courses to make sure the pattern was even in the left and right vertical legs.
•
For those interested the tile is a chevron mosaic with thassos, blue Celeste, and Carrara marble.


I can picture the end! Drywall finishing is underway and this addition is taking shape. Can’t wait to share some picture...
