These anchor chains from the USS New York are currently in the MSP shop undergoing surface preparation and coating. Soon they’ll return to service, helping keep one of our Navy’s most iconic ships securely anchored.

Hoyt “Tito” Molina

I really hate having to share this .

We lost Hoyt “Tito” Molina today.

For a lot of us, Tito wasn’t just somebody we worked with. He was part of Marine Specialty Painting for over 20 years and part of our everyday lives. He was one of the people everybody counted on.

Tito was one of the best labor supervisors I’ve ever been around. He knew how to run crews, keep jobs moving, and handle problems. When it came to running bilge crews, there weren’t any better. A lot of people learned from him over the years whether they realize it or not.

But what really made Tito special was the kind of person he was. Tito was originally from Puerto Rico, and he never forgot where he came from or the people he loved. He cared deeply about his family, especially his mother, and 2 sons he talked about his entire family often. He had a huge heart and was always looking out for other people, whether it was helping somebody on the job, checking on somebody going through a hard time, or making sure I was okay.

I’ve known Tito for a very long time. He actually worked with me years before Marine Specialty Painting, back when I was learning the business myself at JEMM Industries. We’ve been through a lot of jobs, long days, stressful moments, and plenty of good times too. It’s hard to picture the company without him around.

He was respected by all.

Please keep his family in your prayers.

He is going to be missed by a lot of people.
