A new sunroom should be more than just a beautiful space—it should be comfortable all year long.

We recently helped a homeowner in Doylestown turn their brand-new sunroom into a true four-season living space by installing a Tosot high-efficiency mini split system. Now their bonus room stays cool during summer heat waves and warm through the winter, making it usable every month of the year.

If you're planning a sunroom, enclosed patio, or awning addition, ask your contractor about HVAC options early in the design process. Mini splits are often the perfect solution because they provide heating and cooling without requiring major ductwork modifications.

At Rapid Air HVAC, we specialize in adding comfort solutions to sunrooms, additions, garages, bonus rooms, and other spaces where traditional HVAC can be challenging.

Most homeowners will never see the inside of a commercial boiler room—and that's probably a good thing.

This week, our team replaced a heavily leaking commercial indirect water heater connected to a two-boiler system. While this type of equipment is commonly found in apartment buildings, commercial properties, and larger facilities, the principles behind it are similar to what keeps hot water flowing in many homes every day.

As you scroll through the photos, you'll see a leak that progressed well beyond a simple repair. What started as a small issue eventually became a full replacement project.

One of the photos tells the story perfectly: this indirect tank went from a minor leak to replacement territory. Early detection can prevent costly water damage, emergency service calls, and major disruptions.

Why share a commercial project on our page?

Because whether we're installing a comfort system in a home, troubleshooting a heat pump, replacing a water heater, or working on a complex boiler system, our approach is the same: diagnose the problem correctly, explain the options honestly, and deliver a solution that makes sense.

We enjoy the challenging projects because they keep our team sharp—and that experience benefits every homeowner and business owner we serve.

From residential service calls to commercial mechanical systems, we're proud to be the company people call when they need the job done right.

"Your house can't be heated and cooled properly."

"We'd have to tear everything apart."

"Your only option is a full system replacement."

We hear comments like these more often than you might think.

This week, we completed a four-day HVAC renovation project in Jenkintown for a home being prepared for sale. The challenge? Three floors, an older layout, and comfort needs that couldn't be solved with a simple, cookie-cutter approach.

Instead of forcing one system to do everything, we designed a solution that fit the home:

✅ New RunTru by Trane ducted heating and cooling system for the first and second floors

✅ Dedicated Tosot mini-split system for the third floor

✅ Removal of an older mini-split system that was no longer the best fit

✅ Professional duct cleaning before startup so the new system starts with clean ductwork

The reality is that many older homes, additions, finished attics, and renovation projects require creativity. Sometimes the answer isn't the most expensive option. Sometimes it's combining the right equipment in the right places to maximize comfort and value.

If you've been told your home is "too difficult," "can't be done," or that your options are limited, it may be worth getting a second opinion.

At Rapid Air HVAC, we enjoy solving the challenging projects that don't fit neatly into a box.

Because every home deserves a comfort solution—even the tricky ones.

Not All HVAC Problems Come From Old Equipment — Sometimes Brand New Systems Have Issues Too

Think a brand-new HVAC system can't have problems? Think again.

In the attached video, you'll see a refrigerant leak being detected in a brand-new outdoor condenser during installation. The equipment was fresh out of the box, but proper testing revealed an issue before the system was turned over to the homeowner.

While manufacturing quality has improved dramatically over the years, HVAC equipment still goes through production, shipping, warehousing, and transportation before arriving at your home. That's why thorough startup and commissioning procedures are critical on every installation.

Some of the most common leaks found during new HVAC installations include:

✅ Factory coil leaks in evaporator or condenser coils

✅ Damage that occurs during shipping or handling

✅ Leaking service valves or Schrader cores

✅ Brazed connection leaks where field-installed refrigerant lines connect to the equipment

This is exactly why professional installers don't simply "turn it on and leave." Every new system should be pressure tested, leak checked, evacuated, charged correctly, and fully commissioned before the job is complete.

At Rapid Air HVAC, we verify refrigerant charge, operating pressures, airflow, electrical readings, temperature split, and overall system performance before we consider an installation finished.

Finding a leak on installation day isn't bad news—it's actually proof that the system was tested properly. We'd much rather discover an issue before the homeowner experiences a loss of cooling in the middle of a July heat wave.

Quality installation isn't just about installing equipment. It's about verifying that everything works exactly as intended before we leave.

No ducts? No problem. Mini splits are great for zoned comfort and energy efficiency. Prefer one system for the whole home? Central A/C might be the way to go. Know your options before you decide.

What a relief this one was. 🙏🚿

Right before Memorial Day weekend, tenants at a 4-unit apartment building in Spring City, PA suddenly found themselves dealing with unreliable hot water from an aging 12-year-old Navien tankless water heater.

Our team did everything possible to save the system first — replacing the igniter and control board in hopes of getting the unit stabilized again. Unfortunately, the older tankless continued having operational issues, and it became clear the best path forward was replacement instead of continuing to chase repairs.

The property owner made the decision to move forward with a new Rinnai 199k BTU natural gas tankless water heater, and we are incredibly grateful we were able to get the building back up and running with reliable hot water by the very next day. 💪

Moments like this are why we care so much about responsiveness, communication, and helping customers make smart long-term decisions — especially in multifamily buildings where several families are depending on that hot water every day.

Huge thank you to the ownership for trusting Rapid Air HVAC throughout the process, and major appreciation to our crew for working hard to make the transition smooth and minimize downtime for the tenants.

Sometimes the biggest win is simply hearing:
“We finally have hot water again.”

WARNING: We’ve got some REALLY dirty photos to show you… 📸

And yes… this top of the line air conditioner is only 3 YEARS OLD.

What you’re looking at is a condenser coil that became completely clogged with dirt, grass, pollen, and debris because the system never received routine maintenance.

The AC was basically trying to breathe through a pillow. 😬

That restricted airflow forced the compressor to work overtime during the hottest days… until eventually it overheated and failed completely. 💸

The crazy part?
This expensive repair was 100% preventable.

A simple maintenance visit could have:
✅ Kept the system clean
✅ Improved airflow
✅ Lowered electric bills
✅ Protected the compressor
✅ Helped the system last years longer

We see this ALL the time during the first big heat waves in Montgomery & Chester County. Homeowners fire up the AC for the season and suddenly realize the system has been struggling for months.

Don’t wait until your system turns into one of these photos. 😅
