I found some leaf mold from last spring and I gathered up the organic matter to act as mulch in the garden. Leaf mold helps to amend the soil by retaining moisture, suppressing weeds, and providing a food source and habitat for worms and other beneficial insects. I also added worm castings to help strengthen the root systems. The garden thrives when it mimics the natural forest floor.
