Removed this uprooted bradford pear tree in Mount Kisco NY. This tree failed due to its planting location and damaged roots from w**d wacking overtime. Insects and diseases are dormant giving pruning cuts time to seal without being infected. It’s also a great time to remove dead and rubbing branches. With the recent high winds, this hickory tree uprooted on top of the house of our friends at Pound Ridge Land conservancy. Thanks to some careful rigging and the use of the GCRS device, this tree was lifted off the roof and away from the propane tank. Call us for any storm damage clean up. Taking down this poor black birch that had root damage and compacted soil due to patio construction. The hole where the tree resided should’ve been larger with the drip line in mind. The compacted soil and damaged roots lead to heart wood rot and bronze birch borer infestation. Big thanks to Taylor Wood and Matty for the assist! A bit of tree planting wisdom for you today. I see this planting mistake more often than I should. When planting any tree that’s roots come wrapped in burlap and a cage, those items need to be cut and removed during the installation process. This can result in girdling roots, that won’t reach out into the soil and stunt the growth of the tree. If the burlap is synthetic and left above ground, it can hinder the roots ability to take in water. Don’t waste your hard earned money on bad planting. Give us a call for any planting and root care.
