By late summer, the garage can become the unofficial landing zone for just about everything, from backpacks by the door and cleats tossed in the corner to leftover lunch stuff, camping gear, and everything in between.

And mice do not wait for the first freeze to start looking for winter shelter. As the seasons begin to change, garages, sheds, and other protected spaces become much more attractive.

A few simple things can make your garage less inviting:

• Trade cardboard boxes for sealed plastic bins when you can.
• Keep storage a little away from walls so you can spot activity more easily.
• Check your garage door seal for any cracks or gaps.
• Avoid leaving pet food, birdseed, or other food sources in open bags.
• Give camping gear and outdoor equipment a quick check before storing it away.

A little cleanup now can save you from dealing with unwanted garage guests later this fall. Seeing signs of mice or other pest activity? Give DeBugger a call and we can help you get ahead of it.

That sticky film showing up around your yard may not be sap. It could be whitefly honeydew, and by the time you’re noticing it, whiteflies may have already been feeding for a while.

The signs often build on each other. Leaves begin yellowing or dropping earlier than usual. A clear, sticky coating collects on the plant and anything close to it, including patios, sidewalks, outdoor furniture, and parked cars. From there, black sooty mold can grow on the honeydew, coating leaves and blocking some of the light the plant needs.

Not sure if whiteflies are the problem? Check the undersides of the leaves or gently disturb the plant. Tiny white insects that flutter up when disturbed are a pretty good clue.

By late summer, repeated generations can mean a much bigger population feeding on plants that are already stressed from months of southeastern Utah heat.

Seeing any of these signs around your yard? Call 435-630-0653 and we can take a look before the problem has a chance to spread.

Cooler mornings might be starting to hint at fall, but pest season isn’t over yet.

Late summer is actually a good time to start watching for the pests that tend to become more noticeable as the seasons change. Spiders may start showing up around doors, windows, garages, and basements. Boxelder bugs begin looking for protected places to gather. And as temperatures eventually drop, rodents and other fall invaders start looking for food, warmth, and shelter.

A little prevention now can help keep them from settling in later.

Check screens and door seals, clear clutter away from the house, trim vegetation back from the exterior, and keep an eye on gaps or openings that could give pests an easy way inside.

Summer may be winding down, but staying ahead of pests now can make fall a lot more comfortable.

Need help keeping them outside where they belong? Give DeBugger Pest Control a call.

Your lawn is not the only part of your landscape working through the summer heat.

Trees and shrubs can also become stressed when temperatures stay high and the soil dries out. Wilting leaves, browning edges, early leaf drop, or a generally unhealthy appearance may all be signs that something needs attention.

Deep, consistent watering can help, especially with newer trees and shrubs, but water is not always the only issue. Insects, disease, soil conditions, and root stress can also affect plant health.

DeBugger offers tree and shrub care to help support more than just your lawn. If something in your landscape does not look right, give us a call for a closer look.

By late summer, lawns across southeastern Utah have already been through weeks of heat, dry conditions, watering challenges, and regular foot traffic.

Brown or thinning patches may be caused by general heat stress, but other issues can also begin showing up this time of year, including rust, mushrooms, fungus, and necrotic ring spot.

A few things to watch for:

• Brown patches that continue to spread
• Orange or rusty residue on grass blades
• Mushrooms appearing repeatedly
• Circular or ring-shaped areas of damaged grass
• Grass that does not improve even with consistent watering

What has been the biggest challenge for your lawn this summer: brown patches, weeds, mushrooms, or keeping up with watering?

DeBugger’s late-summer lawn treatment includes fertilizer, herbicide, and fungicide to support lawn health and help manage fungal problems such as rust and necrotic ring spot.

Not sure what is causing the problem? Call 435-630-0653 to ask about a lawn evaluation or late-summer treatment.

Wasps tend to become much more noticeable as summer moves along, especially around eaves, sheds, patios, playsets, garages, and frequently used doorways.

A few passing through the yard may not be unusual. Repeated activity in the same spot, however, can be a sign that a nest is nearby.

Take a look around your property and watch for wasps flying in and out of small openings, gathering under rooflines, or returning to the same sheltered area. Avoid disturbing an active nest, especially if it is close to a doorway, play area, or other high-traffic space.

Where do wasps always seem to show up at your house: the porch, shed, playset, or somewhere else?

If you have an active nest in an area your family uses regularly, give DeBugger a call at 435-630-0653.

Before you give up on a brown or struggling lawn, take a closer look. 👀

With temperatures reaching 100°F and higher lately, even healthy lawns can show signs of serious summer stress. Brown patches, thinning grass, or a dry, tired appearance do not always mean the lawn is dead.

Extreme heat, dry soil, uneven sprinkler coverage, shallow watering, and compacted ground can all make it harder for grass to get the moisture it needs.

A few things to check:
• Water deeply instead of lightly every day
• Water early in the morning when possible
• Make sure sprinklers are reaching the entire lawn evenly
• Watch for hard soil where water runs off instead of soaking in

Our current summer lawn treatment includes soil-conditioning support to help water pe*****te the ground more effectively during hot, dry conditions.

Not sure whether your lawn is heat-stressed, dormant, or dealing with another issue? Call us at 435-630-0653 to ask about the current treatment or schedule a lawn evaluation.

Round 3 of our lawn fertilization plan starts next week, and this one is especially helpful during the heat of summer.

This treatment includes a balanced liquid fertilizer and herbicide, plus a soil-conditioning ingredient that helps water move into the soil more effectively. In dry conditions like we are seeing right now, that extra support can make a big difference by helping your lawn absorb more of the water it is already getting.

It will not replace good watering, but it can help your lawn handle summer stress, especially when the soil is hard, dry, or struggling to take in moisture.

If you need to get on the schedule, give us a call at 435-630-0653.
