Sometimes it’s the extra effort that makes all the difference.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to help keep this water feature running strong, taking the time to work through equipment challenges and make improvements that enhance both function and appearance.

Hard work. Attention to detail. Customer-first service. That’s how we do it.

If your pond or waterfall needs a little extra care to get it performing its best, this is exactly the kind of project we love helping with.

Send us a message — we’d love to help.

"They worked tirelessly on my older pump until they got all the parts back in place. And moved a big heavy rock to a better spot near the waterfall. And kindly listened to me. Thanks!"

Pond Guy #5 my sitting rock!

On a nice day, you'll usually find me right here with a book, a can of my favorite Zevia soda, a snack, and my feet in the water while the fish investigate whether my toes are edible or not 😅

My pond is on the smaller side. Honestly, a little small for adult koi long-term. I usually keep a few baby koi here before they move on to larger ponds.

The real stars of this pond are the shubunkin goldfish.

Sometimes called the "poor man's koi," shubunkins have all the multi-color, personality, and activity that people love about koi, but they're incredibly hardy and forgiving. They can handle conditions that would stress many other fish, making them one of my favorite choices for water gardeners of any experience level!

If you're thinking about adding fish to a pond, don't overlook the humble shubunkin. They're beautiful, active, and tough as nails.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a book to read and some fish to entertain with my toes...

Pond Tip Tuesday! 📌

The most successful pond projects start with a purpose—not a blueprint.

Before choosing rocks, waterfalls, or plants, think about how you want to use the space. Whether it’s raising koi, attracting wildlife, entertaining guests, or creating a peaceful escape, your goals should guide the design from day one.

When a pond is built around your lifestyle, it becomes more than a water feature—it becomes a space you'll enjoy for years to come.

Dreaming about a pond? Let’s design one that fits the way you live, not just the way it looks.

Pond Guy #4 Mt. Dew Donut Flavor Unboxing

Sometimes the job takes us to some interesting places... 😆

Most days we're building ponds, installing waterfalls, and helping people create backyard escapes. But every once in a while, we stumble across something that makes us stop and say, "Well... we have to try that."

This time it was a Mountain Dew Donut flavor.

Now, I like trying new things, but I'll admit I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Was it going to taste like a donut? Like Mountain Dew? Or somehow both?

The reactions in this video pretty much say it all. 😂

One of the things I enjoy most about working with this crew is that we don't take ourselves too seriously. Sure, we work hard and take pride in what we do, but there's always room for a little fun along the way.

Life's too short not to laugh, try something new, and make a few memories with the people around you.

So tell me... would you give a Mountain Dew Donut a try?

UPGRADE OF THE WEEK: Aerator ✨

Did you know your fish need even more oxygen during the hottest days of summer?

An aerator works around the clock to increase oxygen levels throughout your pond, helping fish stay healthy while supporting the beneficial bacteria that keep your water cleaner and clearer. Added oxygen can also help reduce conditions that contribute to algae growth, making it one of the most valuable upgrades for overall pond health.

Bonus: If you ever need to shut down your pump temporarily for leak detection or repairs, an aerator can continue providing critical oxygen to your fish and ecosystem.

✅ Healthier fish
✅ Better water quality
✅ Reduced algae pressure
✅ Peace of mind during maintenance

Installed for only $595 for a Single-Stone Aerator and $895 for a Two-Stone Aerator.

Interested in upgrading your pond? Contact us today to learn if an aeration system is right for your water feature!

Pond Guy #3 This is my pond!

It's a small water garden pond tucked into the corner of our front yard, perfectly positioned between our front door and living room window so we can enjoy it from almost anywhere in the main area of our house.

One of my favorite spots is the double-wide rocking chair overlooking the water. My daughter and I will sit there together, sharing an apple or a banana, watching the fish swim by and listening to the waterfall.

Most days we keep the front window cracked open so we can hear the water from inside. It's amazing how much a little bit of moving water can change the feel of a home!

This space isn't the biggest pond I've ever built, but it's our little retreat. A place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy nature together. Bigger doesn't always mean better, the goal is the right fit which this perfectly accomplishes.

Thanks for letting me introduce you to our little serene haven ❤️

Concrete water features can be beautiful, but Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles make them one of the most challenging types of water features to own long-term. In our newest Learning Center article, we explain why concrete ponds and fountains often develop leaks, cracks, and maintenance issues as they age, what repair options may still be available, and when rebuilding becomes the more practical solution.

We cover DIY repair approaches, pond-safe sealers, liner retrofit options, and the types of professionals that may be able to help with concrete waterproofing. We also discuss why many concrete features over 20-25+ years old become increasingly difficult to repair reliably, and how ecosystem ponds are designed to better handle Minnesota weather and ground movement.

If you've inherited an aging concrete pond, are dealing with recurring leaks, or are trying to decide between repair and replacement, this guide will help you understand your options and make a more informed decision.

Pond Guy #2 Need Pro Pond Help?

A friend recently pointed out that I spend so much time educating homeowners that some people don't realize we actually provide these services too.

Yes, we love teaching people how ponds work. We love sharing tips, troubleshooting problems, and helping people become better pond owners.

But if you'd rather be completely hands-off, that's where we come in. From diagnostics and cleanings, maintenance to repairs, rebuilds, and upgrades, our team handles water features every day across Minnesota.

We connect people to water. It's literally all we do!

Whether you want to do it yourself or have a local professional handle everything for you, our goal is the same: helping you enjoy your pond more.
