Tile Talk…. It’s all in the prep! I know you’ve seen it… the same tile pattern right next to each other BUT you didn’t notice it until you grouted… ahhhhhh what a let down. It’s worth taking the extra time to pay attention to the little details. It’s an art!

Another beautiful shower stall completed for John Cacciola Construction!

This spacious 5.5’ x 4.5’ shower features large 2’ x 4’ porcelain wall tiles, creating a clean, modern look with plenty of room to enjoy. Three recessed niches provide tons of convenient storage while keeping everything sleek and organized. We finished it off with 2” x 2” mosaic floor tile and a gold Schluter drain grate for the perfect finishing touch! ✨

Another great project we’re proud to be a part of!

Tile Talk PRO TIP. If you’ve ever let your Wedi sealant dry up in your caulk gun, you know what a hassle it is to get it working again. This tip for your tip 😆 will save you time and material. This little trick literally takes no time at all and it saves your sealant for the next job.

Time lapse shower floor tile install. The shape of these tiles are not your standard square or rectangle. Given the size I had to do an envelope cut at the drain to maintain the correct slope for water drainage. Separate video on the details of that coming soon.
The Key factors on getting proper coverage on this type of install are to first burn in the substrate with the flat side of the trowel, comb with a 1/4” X 1/4” notch trowel, and knock down the ridges with a flat spackle blade before laying the tiles on the thin set.

Tile Talk. Your local tile distributors probably hold FREE trainings on the materials you use everyday. We take advantage of those from time to time. It keeps us in the loop with the latest changes. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and hear what others are struggling with or learn some new tricks of the trade. Tonight avalonflooringwilmington hosted a wedi North-America course on some new and existing products. We met other installers, contractors, reps, and homeowners looking for people like US! There’s opportunity everywhere if you’re looking for it.

Do you guys attend these events? If for nothing else, the free hats and food are a nice touch! 😉
