Since 1946, the De La Garza family has been serving the Dallas Metroplex with high quality custom tile, marble and granite installation. It all started in 1946 when Johnny De La Garz
a started helping a small tile contractor in Dallas, TX. America was in the midst of a housing construction boom and Johnny learned all he could about the tile business, eventually starting his own company. His brother Luther soon noticed the opportunity and also started installing tile in 1950. The next brother, Severo (Sid) De La Garza saw that the tile business had great potential to provide a stable living. In 1952, Sid began as a helper. In one year, he became an apprentice in the Tile Setters Union. Sid entered a vocational school to specialize in tile installation. He received his Certificate of Qualification in Tile Installation and worked with the Tile Setters Union for 10 years. In 1962, Sid started his own business. Among his first actions was a critical long-term decision. Sid decided that the market for custom tile installation work was more lucrative than the volume track home business. Even more, Sid figured out quickly that gaining custom home builder relationships was the key to staying in this tile business for a long time. By 1965, Sid was one of the most successful tile contractors in Dallas. For a several decades, Sid managed at least 8 crews of highly skilled custom tile setters. Sid’s oldest son, Rudy, also entered the family business. In 1972, Rudy started as a helper in his dad’s business. By 1976, Rudy had started his own company and began gathering strong relationships with new construction custom home builders. Rudy took the family business to the next level by solidifying agreements with all the local tile suppliers and expanding the service offering to include granite fabrication installation and the sale of tile and tile setting materials.
