EMERALD ASH BORER

Emerald Ash Borer is considered to be the worst pest to ever hit shade trees in Virginia. It has killed millions of Ash trees (Latin name Fraxinus) so far and will continue to do so until it eradicates all Ash trees. It will kill an Ash tree in a very short period of time unless the tree is treated. If an Ash tree becomes infected with Emerald Ash Borer and is not treated, it will die. It cannot recover on its own, without treatment.

The Emerald Ash Borer invasion is so devastating that the Virginia Department of Forestry has developed a cost share program to help landowners and organizations to treat Emerald Ash Borer. Go on the Virginia Forestry Department website (dof.virginia.gov) to find out the details of the cost share program.

L.G. Scott Landscaping and Tree Service has been selected by the Virginia Department of Forestry to provide this service. Feel free to call the office with any questions you may have.

If you are not sure if you have an Ash tree, you can call the Virginia Department of Forestry, and they will come out and identify the tree and let you know if it has been infected.

The emerald ash borer is an invasive wood-boring beetle, native to Asia. The EAB has been rapidly spreading across North America with dramatic impacts.
