Meet the people behind Windmill Homes 👷
Rodney McNew is our owner and founder, the guy you'll see doing design consultations, and the reason our name is what it is. Rodney was raised by his grandfather, Silas McNew, a tinker from Quinton, VA. In the early 70s, Rodney and Silas built their first windmill together. As it turned, little carved characters came to life: a farmer churning butter, a squirrel in a rowboat. Rodney says it was like watching an aquarium, except it also came with great conversation and long afternoons on the porch.
That's where the name Windmill Homes comes from. It's named after Silas.
Rodney built his first home in New Kent in 1986, loved the process so much he incorporated Windmill Homes in 1992, and he's been building here ever since.
Today, his son Dylan McNew serves as Vice President and is on job sites often, hands-on with the work the same way his dad and great-grandfather were.
Same family, same care, over 30 years and counting. Follow along, this is only the first of the faces you'll get to know.
Know Rodney or Dylan from around town? Say hello in the comments.
