A fifty-foot snake only gets you so far.

Plumbers can fix plenty inside, but when your main sewer line collapses five feet down, under four inches of driveway concrete, a hand shovel isn't going to get the job done.

That's where we step in.

We work alongside local plumbers and folks all along the Wasatch Front to tackle the heavy excavation side of things. We cut the concrete clean, dig out the broken line safely, lay down fresh pipe, and get everything backfilled and packed down right.

If your cleanout isn't clearing and you're stuck, reach out and we'll take care of the digging.

Send us a message or click the link in our profile to get a bid.

Not sure if you need us yet? No worries! We’ll stop by, take a look for free, and let you know what the smartest next step is.

All the rain that soaked the valley last week, plus the storm rolling in this week does a lot more than just turn your yard into a swamp.

Around here, this is usually the exact stretch of weather where old sewer laterals and water lines finally give out.

Here’s why it happens:
Utah ground, especially the heavy clay sitting all along the Wasatch Front, spends months baking dry. When back-to-back storms dump inches of water into that soil, it swells up fast and gains massive weight.

If your home is running on an older clay tile, cast iron, or Orangeburg pipe from the 60s or 70s, that pipe has zero flexibility. When the saturated clay shifts or the ground settles unevenly underneath it, the line shears at the joints or cracks under the load.

To make matters worse, heavy groundwater forces its way into old, pre-existing hairline cracks. That water pulls surrounding dirt right into the line with it, washing out the bedding under your pipe until the whole section sags and collapses.

A few warning signs your yard took a hit:
• Toilets gurgling when the washer drains
• Slow basement drains that suddenly won’t clear
• A soft, sunken trench or soggy patch in the lawn that won’t dry out

If you’re seeing any of that, don’t wait until you have sewage backed up into your basement floor drain. Let’s get a camera down there to see what the ground did to the line.

Shoot us a DM or call us to schedule a line inspection or replacement.

Got a yard hydrant out on the property? If you've got one, you already know what it is. But is yours actually working right, or is it starting to leak?

You can absolutely dig it up and replace it yourself, it's a fairly simple fix if you track down the right rebuild kit for your specific brand.

But if you'd rather not spend your Saturday digging around in the mud, just give Aspen Utilities a call. We'll come out and take care of it for you.

If you’ve ever gone out to blow out your sprinklers in October, dropped the key down the pipe, and felt that valve refuse to budge…you know this sight.

This stop and waste hasn't turned since 1998. Four feet down in the clay, the packing is shot, the drain port packed solid with dirt, and the stem is ready to snap right off the line.

If this valve doesn't turn, you can't isolate your sprinkler mainline. And if the waste port won't open to drain the line into the gravel below, that trapped water sits right in the frost zone until the ground freezes and splits the pipe.

But, if you call Aspen Utilities… We dig it out, replace it with a heavy-duty quarter-turn brass ball valve, bed it in fresh drain rock, and set a straight riser so it actually turns with one hand next season.

If your T-key is bending or the valve just spins freely without shutting the water off, don't put a cheater bar on it and risk shearing the supply line. Send us a message or call us…we'll dig it up, swap it out, and keep your yard dry.

Knocked out a sidewalk tunnel in one morning to run a new line without touching the concrete. 💪🏼

Tearing up a sidewalk adds extra demo, concrete re-pours, cure times, and unnecessary expense to a bill. Tunneling right underneath skips all of that. It keeps the walkway intact, saves time, and leaves the yard looking like we were barely there.

Next step: backfilling and packing the dirt down tight underneath so the slab stays fully supported and won't settle later.

Just another day on the crew at Aspen Utilities, keeping things moving along the Wasatch Front. 🛠️

Snaking a sewer line only buys you time.

A plumber can run a camera down your sewer pipe, show you where the tree roots blew through, and clear enough of a hole to get your toilets flushing today. But once roots break through clay or cast iron pipes under your yard, snaking is just a temporary band-aid.

Plumbers clear pipes, they don't dig up your yard to replace crushed lines.

When the camera scope shows a collapsed lateral or a root ball 8 feet under your driveway, that’s where we come in.

At Aspen Utilities, we bring out the heavy equipment, dig down to the problem, and replace your broken sewer lateral for good. No band-aids, just pipe work done right that won't be backing up on you next spring.

Got a bad camera report from your plumber? Are they motioning wildly in the direction of your trees? Drop us a DM or give us a call. We’ll get you taken care of.

We’ve all been there. You notice your yard getting soggy. Common sense tells you something is leaking down there.

You start off thinking “Hey I’ll dig a quick trench over the weekend, get it done…” Then you hit that classic Utah hardpan, and end up with a broken shovel and a sore back.

Save yourself the backache and let the machines do the work.

At Aspen Utilities, we bring the right iron and experienced crews to handle sewer laterals, water line replacements, and main line utility work safely, to code, and without breaking a sweat. We get in, dig it out right, put it back together, and get out so your property isn't stuck looking like a mud pit.

Before you snap another shovel, shoot us a DM or give us a call for an estimate.

Got a sudden spike on your water bill? Before you call an indoor plumber, here is a 5-minute test to prove whether the leak is inside your house or underground in your main service line.
Turn off all faucets, hoses, and appliances.
Shut off your main water valve inside the house (usually in the basement, utility closet, or next to your water heater).
Go out to your water meter pit by the curb, lift the lid, and look at the meter face.
Watch the low-flow indicator (the small red triangle, leak star, or digital flow rate).
If that meter is still spinning while your house's main valve is shut tight, water is leaking out between the meter pit and your foundation.
That means you've got an underground water line leak in the yard, and that’s where we come in.
If your meter keeps spinning, give Aspen Utilities a call or send us a message. We’ll locate the break and get your main line repaired or replaced without digging up any more of your property than we have to.
