Switching it up from veneering. This project I did a little vacuum laminating for the neck. This will be my new campfire companion. Cigar box style guitar.

Taking some planed pallet slats to the table saw jointer jig. Found two really nice ones that I glued together. These will be turned into a neck for a cigar box style guitar. I am planning on making the body out of pallet wood as well. Keep your eyes on the page to see my progress.

So I was having a hard time with the veneer not laying flat. At first I tried taping the veneer down which worked okay. But the veneer in the middle was still way to ripely. So went with a change of plans. Took the tape off. Removed all the pieces and drop the veneer onto a thin piece of steel and used magnets to hold down the veneer.

All veneered up and ready for a few coats of poly. Then off to the customer. Hope they like this one. Bubinga veneered porcupine on birds eye maple back ground. This piece was done in a vacuum frame press from Quality VAKuum Products.

Grateful Dead lighting bolt inlay plaque done. All sanded and polyurethaned. Customer is extremely happy and can't wait to hang it on their wall. Will post some pictures once I get them from my customer.
