Ahhh Spring time, we made it 🌼 our endorphins have fully kicked in now that we are back outside everyday. We feel so lucky are we to be gardening in and around homes that have such amazing habitat already.

These Spring Ephemerals are a rarity, as they feed our pollinators early in the season only under moist, deciduous forest floors. Lasting only until the trees leaf out, if you can find them, they are indeed a special treat! Here you can see Bloodroot, Dutchmans’ breeches, Spring Beauty, and Blue Cohosh (not an ephemeral, but still so cool).

PRO TIP: leaf management around your home matters! Don’t pile leaves where these guys can’t pop up. Make sure there is just a layer of leaves to keep the soil moist.

As sustainable gardeners, we take away the leaves in the fall as they drop or pile them into one area to be managed (extra helpful for the bugs🐞). Blowing your leaves off your lawn and into the woods year after year will kill all the understory plants, driving the deer further into your garden as well!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the first ever Native Plant Symposium ! What an honor it is to have met you all; We feel so lucky to be a part of this community and to connect with others who share our appreciation for our environment.

We came away with greater inspiration for where we live. The many great speakers from the event taught us how our local plants can feed and heal us, how to protect our pollinators that make growing our food possible, how to heal the land that heals us. We are excited to be contributing to it in our future work and cultivate the connections we made this week.

HUGE thank you to for giving us a space to gather, learn, and grow together 🌱

If anyone is curious on how your yard & landscape can add to your neighborhood & local plant community, we would love to talk with you more!

Come join us this Thursday, March 26th.

We’re excited to share that we will be speaking at the Native Plant Symposium March 26th🌿

Our talk is about something we love: How to analyze a site, design with native plants, and actually install a thriving landscape.

Have you ever wondered:
•Where do you start with designing your yard?
•How do you read a site before planting?
•What mistakes should you avoid?

We’ll be walking through our full process from site analysis ➡️ design ➡️ installation.

We would love to see you there! (Link in Bio)

The smallest visitors make the biggest difference 🐝✨ when we plant with intention - native flowers, layered blooms, chemical free care, we create space where life thrives. This is what sustainable landscaping looks like. Not just beauty, but balance.

We traded a stretch of lawn for something that gives back 🌱 This client was ready to level up the yard to more than just lawn - more habitat, more seasonal interest, more resilience.

We used plants suited for our climate - natives like Butterfly W**d, Bee Balm, and a Redbud tree. Then we added vertical structure using a grass called Karl Forester. Plants with deeper root systems improve soil health, are more drought tolerant, support more life - all while creating a space that feels alive.

Lawns have their place. But they don’t have to be the only story.

By mixing climate-adapted natives with proven performers, we’re building gardens that are beautiful, durable, and better for the ecosystem.

Why reducing turf benefits Lake George properties. Around the lake, every property plays a role in protecting water quality. Traditional lawn requires fertilizer, irrigation, and creates runoff that flows into the lake. Creating a strong plant community with native and ornamental plants helps stabilize soil, filters nutrients naturally, and absorbs stormwater.

Turf grass is an ecological desert. By incorporating a beautiful garden by the lake, you add habitat which supports water quality, pollinators, and long term ecological health.

Sustainable landscaping isn’t just about beauty - it’s about stewardship.

Thinking about reducing lawn space on your property? Let’s design something that works WITH the land.

You don’t have to eliminate all your lawn to make an impact - even small changes can transform how your property looks and functions.

We converted select turf areas into layered plantings using plants that thrive in our climate. The result?

🌱 More beauty with texture and seasonal interest
🐝More pollinator habitat
💧Deeper root systems to help manage runoff
✂️ Less mowing = less maintenance

More plants don’t have to mean more work. If you install a garden that is meant to fill in and compete with weeds, you create an environment that supports itself and your surroundings. Huge lawns feel flat and empty, diverse plantings make your property feel intentional and alive. Here we seeded a ground cover and planted perennials that will show up year after year.

Can’t wait to watch this fill in over the years!

Every yard connects to the larger ecosystem. By replacing turf with native and garden plants, we connect the beauty of our area to your home.

Serving Lake George & surrounding areas.
