Bob the builder is on site!!! 6th and Hampshire intersection is blocked but Hampshire from 8th-6th is free. Plenty of parking on the street, and the parking lot across from the restaurant!!! It may have been a bad idea letting me have this vest and hard hat. Hold your beers and let’s see what Bob can put together this week with his fresh new uniform!!! ps the boys from Rees Construction are kicking ass out there. Moving faster than I could build a Lego house!!!

We are thrilled to be partnering with the City of Quincy and the 6th Street business owners.

The total cost for the project is $4.6 million. The project will address water and sewer work, road and sidewalk reconstruction and streetscape improvements including lighting, benches, planters and electrical. Rees Construction Company was awarded the project.

The installation of the first of 8 sculptures for the Celebration of Education partnership is getting so close! Thank you to our contracting teams on this project: Rees Construction Company, Waterkotte Construction Inc., Brown Electric and VonderHaar Masonry. Quincy Senior High School, Denman Elementary and Thomas S Baldwin K-5 will be our first sculptures up.

Rees Construction has begun preparing for and pouring the parking lanes along the south side of Main Street starting in front of the post office and old Ayerco, working to the East. During this time, the parking lanes and alley will be shut down. Parking lanes will be completed on this side by Fri, 8/9/19. They will be colored concrete and require at least 30 days to cure before being sealed. You will still be able to access the handicap parking and ramp at the post office thru the alley. Please be cautious when backing out.

Beginning Mon, 8/12/19, Rees will be installing the crosswalks in the eastbound lane of Main Street and South Capitol. During this time, the eastbound lane of Main Street and South Capitol (from Main to the alley south) will be closed to thru traffic. This is only for one day and will be opened at the end of the day on Monday.

There will be a second crew starting at Dixon Auto Body’s corner, working east, removing storm sewers to the alley at Farmer’s State Bank. Please utilize the parking behind both city hall and the police department along with parking on North Street.
