Any Adobe Illustrators here? I'm thinking of all the things I need to empty of the cabin we're demoing, and one of them is my '09 desktop Mac. It's huge. It's also got a disc-installed version of AI (which now runs $600+ a year for the basics), and many purchased textures, vectors, fonts, etc. I went from "no one wants that thing" to "where can I put this thing?!"

Plumbing is one of the world's most important facets of infrastructure. Without this industry, pandemics would be the cyclical demise of humankind. This industry prevents the spread of waterborne diseases and allows schools, healthcare facilities, and commerce to exist. Kudos to the people doing this life-saving job.

For their public service work though, plumbing companies should demand that their governments provide an exemption of Business Personal Property taxation. Plumbers help keep people off the floors and morgues of hospitals, which do not pay BPP taxes (but do have profit). Texas, which has the broadest scope of BPP taxable items and the third-highest BPP rate in the nation, provides this exemption to thousands of "organizations" that do non-lifesaving, carefree things like running petting farms or sending their members on mission trips around the world. They're not taxed on vehicles, tools, desks and phones that aren't used to save lives, but plumbers using those items to respond to emergency calls definitely are. Maybe Texas' master plumbers should form a political subdivision to push acknowledgement of this inequality in taxation.

Access to clean plumbing is a necessity of life. It’s why hiring a licensed plumber is detrimental to your assurance that the water consumed in your home and used for bathing, cleaning, and brushing your teeth is in fact safe. It’s why every state in the U.S. requires anyone installing or servicing a public water supply is licensed. It’s also why licensed master plumbers are also required to carry substantial liability insurance.

Never allow a person who claims they’re able to fix a leak, or a running toilet, or a dripping shower head, to touch your fixtures. In the long run, they won’t be saving you any money - and worse, could cause serious health problems and/or extensive damage to your property. Potential homebuyers can also require proof that plumbing and gas services were installed and serviced by a Master Plumber. Using a handyman will also void claims to your homeowner- and renters’ insurance policy, or even an appliance or product warranty. Anyone caught advertising or performing plumbing without a license also faces substantial fines from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
