A day of lighting inspiration!
Chrissie and Tom attended the fourth annual New Product Symposium in downtown Raleigh at the Melrose Knitting Mill. Hosted by one of our lighting sales representative, Dawn Tafel, the event featured lunch, a lighting showcase, and a continuing education presentation.
We’re always excited to explore new lighting products and ideas that can inspire our work and help us create thoughtful spaces for our clients, including our work on the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church sanctuary.
Thank you to Dawn and the team for a great afternoon!

Getting inspired by the spaces around us 🌿
A change of scenery is always a great way to recharge and find a little inspiration outside the office.

Our team enjoyed lunch at the new North Hills Innovation District and took some time to explore the surroundings. We especially loved seeing how the development incorporates the natural landscape, with walking and biking trails, bridges, and pathways connecting the new spaces to the outdoors.

Thoughtful design is about more than the buildings—it’s also about how people experience and connect with the spaces around them.

A great lunch, time together, and a little architectural inspiration along the way!

Things are taking shape at Neuse Charter School!

Today, we were on site for a rough-in walkthrough of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the new K-8 building. Brick veneer and EIFS installation are also underway, and the building is really starting to take shape.

This is our third building on the campus in the last 12 years. We’re excited to see the progress and watch the vision for this new learning environment come to life!

ARCHITECTURE IN THE DETAILS | Preserving the Past

Not everything old needs to be replaced.

Originally constructed about 100 years ago, Littleton Academy’s building has a history worth preserving. As part of the renovation, we kept an original slate chalkboard and incorporated it into the updated interior. Portions of the original brick were also preserved and left exposed, adding character and a connection to the building’s history.

We love finding ways to preserve meaningful details from the past while creating updated spaces that serve today’s students and staff.

We’re thankful for the opportunity to enjoy a great day on the course, connect with the Wake Christian Academy community, and support the school and its mission.

We also had the opportunity to check on the progress of the new construction this week. It’s exciting to see the project taking shape, and we’re excited to see the vision become a reality!

We’re excited to share one of our latest projects at Design Development Architects: Parkside Church in Durham, NC.

Built several decades ago, the church has been thoughtfully transformed into a brighter, more contemporary space while maintaining the character and sense of community that makes it special.

The renovation includes a welcoming new entrance, an elevator to improve accessibility, and updates throughout the common spaces and sanctuary, creating a refreshed environment for worship and gathering.

It was a pleasure collaborating with the Parkside Church team—Chase Jenkins and Wes Treadway—along with McKenna Construction, Crenshaw Consulting, and NV5 to bring this vision to life.

We’re grateful to have been part of this project and to help create a renewed space that will serve the Parkside Church community for years to come.
