I'm part of a wonderful Sunday school group where I get to use art to teach Bible stories. Sometimes I use the lesson plan provided with the story, other times I chose my own. This session referenced an artist, Rob Gonsalves, that I was interesting in learning more about since I love Surrealism. Usually the library is my go to fur reference books, but all the books are checked out or unavailable. I was able to get all the books that he's illustrated from ! I love that they have nearly mint condition 20 year old books that are super affordable! Looking forward to seeing what kind of paintings my little artists come up with over the next month!

I drew this portrait of sweet Hurley and got to meet him during my lunch break when I was able hand deliver it to his mama! I love being to meet the subjects that I draw or paint. She was the winning bidder of my silent auction item donation to BT1D Piedmont Triad. I'm grateful to her support of them and appreciation for my artwork.

Thank you all so much for supportting the 2026 Gala last weekend! To everyone who shared my posts for the silent auction or tuned in remotely to bid, and ultimately the winning bidders on my pet portraits, I so appreciate you and your support towards a cure. My two portraits raised $408 alone!

In 2020 when I started sharing my journey back into art on this account, it was to bring some brightness and hope back to others during a dark and lonely time. I continue to do it so I can raise awareness and support for causes that I care about in my own way.

I'm usually camera shy, so here I am for the second time in the past month showing my face with my artwork. Gala versus day off- errand running bare face πŸ˜†

The second item I've donated is an acrylic pet portrait to the Gala Silent Auction today! You do not have to be in the NC area to bid you can be anywhere in the USA and I will complete your portrait and mail to you. Help us raise funds for a cure 🫢🏻
When my son was diagnosed with T1D almost 18 months ago, I was heartbroken for him. Knowing everyday for the rest of his life would have this ghost looming on the background and striking any minute was overwhelming. Knowing that he will have to make constant decisions once he's old enough that his life literally depends on drove me into mama bear mode. "How do I stop this, how do I protect him?" I can't. But I can support institutions that will make his life easier and hopefully one day cure him. Instead of working for a more lucrative job in industry, I choose to work for one of the leading research universities in the world to support our faculty in finding ways to cure T1D and other diseases. Through my passion, art, I can donate my time and my energy into these pet portraits to raise more money to fund research. When you feel helpless, it's okay to feel your sadness for a minute. Then get up and make your own way. There is ALWAYS hope.

Need some artwork for your office? Have a friend that's struggling with recently letting their fur- baby cross the rainbow bridge? I'm donating 2 pet portraits to the NC Piedmont Gala silent auction in 2 weeks! I will share the auction link as soon as it's out. You don't have to attend the Gala to bid and your support would mean the world to me and my familyπŸ’™

My family moved to the Triad area 2 and a half years ago. We found a wonderful church right in our neighborhood with amazing children's programs. Without knowing that I'm an artist, one of the pastors asked me last school year if I'd be interested in teaching the art section for Sunday school. It's been a joy the past year and a half. I am getting more creative with my lessons and also trying to be more re-use and budget friendly. What better way to engage all kids and abilities than building with bricks?! I teach a range of kids from k-4th grade and they were able to either create one letter or several words that I then photographed and compiled into the Lord's Prayer. Check out all the different ways they made the letters, and used a mini fig for the "I" in "evil" πŸ˜†
