Downtown Burlington is continuing to take shape.

Construction is moving quickly on the Paramount Theater Expansion, and the transformation is becoming more visible by the day.

We are excited to see this historic space evolve with new gathering spaces, expanded capacity, and a rooftop deck overlooking downtown.

Shoutout to The Christman Company for the incredible work bringing this vision to life.

We’re proud to partner with NC Department of Natural & Cultural Resources and NC Historic Sites, to restore and enhance the home and workshop of Thomas Day, one of North Carolina’s most celebrated craftsmen.

A free Black man in the early 1800s, Day built a nationally recognized furniture business, producing masterful woodworking for some of the state’s most prominent clients.

Our team is designing a range of interior and exterior improvements to help bring the site closer to how it would have been during Day’s lifetime, while also honoring the full history of the building over time.

These renovations will preserve the site’s history, expand accessibility, and create a more immersive experience that connects visitors to Thomas Day’s life and legacy.

Here’s a first look at the Paramount Theater Expansion, now under construction.

First opened in the late 1920s, this historic theater is stepping into its next chapter with two new floors and a rooftop deck! Bringing even more space to allow community to come together.

The former Apex Town Hall is a beautiful example of the Italianate architectural style, inspired by romanticized Italian villas and known for its decorative brackets, elegant windows and expressive design. Buildings like this reflect the craftsmanship and character that help define ’s historic identity.

Wake County is updating the guidelines that shape how historic landmarks are preserved and maintained. The draft Principles and Standards reflect key priorities such as sustainability, resiliency and the thoughtful use of materials.
